Today I had a Flowmaster 50 series Deltaflow installed on my '99 because my stock muffler had a hole in it. I chose it because everyone on the forums love this muffler, praising it for being quiet but deep sounding. It sounds beautiful when idling and doesn't drone on the highway. But when I'm accelerating from a light, the sound is terrible. It sounds like my beloved Runner is a riced out Civic. It's only between 1k and 3k rpm's that the sound is bad. At high revs it's nice and quiet. And that makes me wonder if this is not an issue with everyone's favorite muffler but instead an issue with resonance. Have any if you solved issues of loud exhausts by installing OEM resonators? I really want to get this solved without buying a new muffler. Can you help me out?
