Sorry no updates since my last post. I got crazy busy between a position as 1st Sergeant for my Reserve Unit and also my regular job and no time for work or play. I have since taken a new position for Reserves and last Monday I was laid off from my regular job. I am hoping that during my job search I will be able to accomplish some of the mods to the trailer(as long as they are minimal cost).

This has been slower than even I anticipated. It is still in the same place in my garage since the last pictures. Going through the divorce and also loosing my job has greatly slowed things down. Hoping to start making some progress on it soon though so maybe some pictures in a couple months. I am trying to find some of the smaller inexpensive things I want to do or can do as temporary use until I can build the way I want. Right now it is usable as a general utility type trailer.

I joined Steel Soldiers website and started a build thread, mentioned I would be selling the parts and someone contacted me about them. That A3 axle is desirable since it has the raised center.
Great, thanks. I need to arrange to get the paperwork done so I can start the pick-up process (mine is in Barstow). Hoping I can get a decent amount for the 37's, beadlocks, axle and surge brake and pintle assembly.
Thanks for the offer, I think I've got a buddy that has a pintle hitch I can use. As a matter of fact I may just use his F-150 to go and get it. Hopefully I can make something useful out of it. Did you buy your axle somewhere locally here in SoCal? I've found a few Dexter dealers nearby.
I picked mine up today, excited to get started on it. Posted the parts I don't plan to use on craigslist, etc. I've got it crammed in our apartment garage right now, the wife isn't happy to lose her parking space. I pulled the hitch, etc already so I'm going to have to get it towable again quick!
My plan is to closely replicate the "stock" plate the pintle assembly is mounted to and have a square receiver tube coming out the front. I'd PROBABLY going to just put a normal hitch on it for now. I'd like to have the option of something more exotic in the future though. Thought about using a large 3" suspension joint in there to get more misalignment.
I need to find some 16" aluminum toyota wheels so I can get my tires mounted and then I'll order an axle.

I am interested in those wheels actually, are they 16"? I've got a new set of BFG 285/75/16's to go on my 4runner so I was going to keep two of the ones that are on it now to put on the trailer.
I found a local welding shop today that says they do a bunch of welding work on trailers. I went by there and showed him the "stock" hitch set-up and told him what I wanted to do. I'm going to put the hitch back on the trailer tonight and take the whole trailer to him tomorrow and he is going to make an upper and lower plate with the side plates that has a receiver tube sticking several inches out the front. I bought a standard ball receiver I'll mount on some 2" tube that can slide in and out. I hope to one day do a nice off-road set-up as well and this will make it simple enough to swap it out and also provide some extra security since i can remove the "tongue" when i need to store it. All in all he quoted me $100 to fab it up so that it will bolt on to the existing bolt holes in the tongue just like the "stock" one. I'm stoked as long as it comes out looking decent. This will give me a lower hitch height AND allow me to let the bed tilt still.
I had a chat with the guys at Arrow trailers when I was picking up the hitch about the axle, would you mind sharing that PDF with me?
Did you consider pulling and of the springs out of the leaf back to lower the "bed" down any?

Well I finally used my trailer, unfortunately it was for a move and not a camping trip and also behind my Tahoe and not the 4 Runner. Here are a few pics from my new backyard in between trips. It is far from done but at least it finally got out of the side yard and pulled down the street. Still need to build slide out for the BBQ and a cover along with rack for an RTT. At least for now i know it is usable to throw stuff in and get out to the camp site and tows really nice.
