haha whoa dude....wayy too complicated...i did mention it was a quick way to convert, didn't I?

Hmmm..well, since most of the time you don't need to know the exact temperature, rough memorization works fine.

10c = 50f
20c = 70f
30c = 85f
40c = 100f

For temps below freezing it's just as easy:

-5c = 25f
-10c = 15f
-15c = 5f
-20c = -5f

Before someone points it out, yes, I know those numbers aren't exact, but that's my point, they don't need to be. If you can glance at the thermometer and see that it's 12c then you know instinctively that its in the high 50's, and plan accordingly.

i'm a powder hound and weather junkie, so i'm kinda anal about knowing exactly what the temp is, i live in washington so dressing or planning accordingly isn;'t an issue, it's wear a sweater and jacket year round and swap the pants out for shorts in july for 2 months then back to pants, lol

but yeah i'm just being a dillweed on this matter as i find it's annoying to my exacting standards of the outside temp. don't mind me, lol

(side note 4-5 degrees and a slight wind chill can be drastically different from one place to the next and conditions will reflect a shift of just a few degrees as well, think elevation,exposure,snow conditions,wind and swings in temps any direction then get the cumulative effect for actual conditions in a given area....yeah dillweed, lol )

got the pics back, the original pics are still on Photobucket..hmmm? The installation write up is on YoTaTech. I also replaced the rear view mirror with a Blue Tooth capable one for calls when drivng.

Sorry to bring this old thread back, but it caught my eye and I was wondering is there anything compareble to this...being that its factory looking for the most part that looks anything newer or updated? If you know what I mean that looks kind of old to me anything newer?

There were 2 versions of the FMU for 3rd gens, this one, and the other one is a GPS unit. The problem with the GPS unit one is that it is all in Japanese (it's more of a digital display). This one is at least in English, though metric. Someone posted the other one on Yotatech.

It really doesn't look old when you install it. It fits with the vehicle. If you want something newer, I think you will have to go aftermarket, and it won't integrate like this one does.

Well there isn't really a an aftermarket "field monitor unit". What I meant is that if you want the compass function, then you will have to get an aftermarket compass (like one of the compass rearview mirrors), if you want the temp gauge, then you will have to get an aftermarket temp gauge. That kind of thing. The beauty of the FMU is that it has multiple function all in one, and seamlessly integrated into the vehicle. You won't get that any other way.
