my own FIELD MONITOR UNIT

I uploaded some pics i took before and after..overall the install was fun, challenging and oh! so rewarding. i also documented the whole process with pictures from beginning to end..

everything functions the way they're supposed to, compass and the green running bars work after being tapped into the abs sensor, outside temperature is dead on with the weather networks reading, also after hooking it up into the sensor provided, both the maplights work as well as the sunroof controls. the illumination after being tapped into the clock wire also functions perfectly. the screen is super bright during the day and not too overbearing once the headlights are on during night driving..oh yeah forgot to clean the rear view mirror....

Two things:

1. That's the most awesome mod I've seen on T4R.org! I've been trying to figure out how to get a thermometer on my truck since I got it (wife's 06 Grand Vitara has one and it's nice to have.) As for the Centigrade thing - meh, I was stationed in the Middle East for a year, I'm pretty comfortable with C temps and generally I can do the conversions in my head (10 c is 50f and from there up every 10c is 18f: 20 is 68, 30 is 86, 40 is 104, 50 is 120.) I haven't had much experience doing the below-zero conversions (it never gets below zero in Kuwait!) but I'm sure I'll get used to it. (Should be: -5c = 23f, -10c = 14f, -15c = 5f, -20c = -4f, -25c = -13f, etc)

ooo i might like that one more saves the storage in the over head compartment and makes the double din opening in the truck lok sweet, did he ever get teh outside temp to work? might be another good reason for me since mine reads Celsius and who the hell know's what 10 degrees Celsius mean anyways? lol

here's a simple way to quickly convert temp:

(C x 2)+32 = F

barometer- 1014 hPA = 1 bar = 14 psi = sea level

altimeter- 50m = 167 feet

with the upper formula you also need to subtract 10% or .1 of the doubled temp before you add the 32


F° = (C° * 9/5) +32 ,
(C x 2) - (C x 2 x 0.1) + 32 = F
(C x 1.8) + 32 = F

none of it is what i'd call simple 1+1, do while your drinking coffee,talking,driving at the same time sort of math, well at least i have to actually think about it fer a second lol. and even with those conversions you can't get 102 or 103 degrees it's either 101 or 104 you know what i'm saying,(didn't do the math but you know what i'm getting at) i prefer the smaller increments becuase i know when it's already 100degress out 101 or 102 feels way hotter then just 100, to hit some of these number you'd have to know if it was 7.5673 degrees out, but hey that's just me and i always go about things kinda weird. lol
