hey what year is urs?! i dont have my 97 yet, but my bro is gonna give me his 3rd generation once he gets a bmw! mines the same color, but no gurads on the lights! u plan on modding it at all??

Congrats...that's a great 4runner and 4wd too! BTW, does your 4runner have the optional rear electric locker?? There should be a button on the lower dash to the left of the steering wheel.

No, no rear locker. But my dad has gotten off of glass slick ice (decided to drive across local pond) (so slick you couldnt stand on it without falling) witht eh stock GoodYear Wragler RT/S in 4WD-L.

Itd be cool if we had a rear locker. Heck Id take the 2000 Sports Edition w/ Rear Locker that my cousin sold for $17k 2 years ago any day...thing had 10k miles on it, meticulously maintained, was moving across the country with 1 day's notice, and the family needed money desprately...
 
Congrats on the new 4Runner. What a great thing to receive from your parents. The best thing is it is also modded. Well, my parents also gave me my 4Runner. They were going to give me their 2001 X5 with 50k miles, but it ended up being out of warranty and not worth the costs of maintaing. They ended up selling that and getting me the SUV I always wanted!! In addition, they wanted me in a something safe and capable because I would be commuting back and forth to college.

Good luck with the permit and your 4Runner. Let me give you some advice: don't bring the 4Runner for the road test. It is a PIA to parallel park, especially with an instructor in your front seat!!

What color wheels should I get? Im debating over a polished/chrome to brighten up the truck or a black/hyperblack to match the gaurds.
 
That's awesome...My parents gave me my 4runner too...but i had to work myself up the ladder to drive it. I started off with a 96 rav4...I hated it! I love my t4r! I hope you enjoy yours too...I think its the t4r is a better life style choice than the is300...IMO. Congrats on the ride!
 
I ordered a set of American Racing ATX Victor w/ Teflon 16x8 last night. Cant wait until I get them on.

Hmm...seems like my alarm is diein...only one remote works now. Cant open the doors. Its so retarded.

So I think Im gonna get a DEI alarm soon.

That basically throws out the option af a system anytime soon. DAMN!
 
nice mods man.. I got a 98 today too. Mine is basically stock though, but the previous owner put a spare tire latch on the back that looks sweet.
 
i remeber when i got my 4runner when i was young well im still young(19) i got it at 16 took a loan from my mom paid it off last year best feeling ever lol congrats man u'll love it i love my runner more everyday i honestly think its the best suv ever made, only if it get 30 mpg......................
 
This thread is so old that the OP is now a father and he is giving his kid his old 4Runner.

I got my first runner when I was young too - l was in my late 30's, those were the good old days....
