Wow, that looks good, I think I am going to do this, I also would like to put LEDs in the tail lights...

They make the direct plug in LED bulbs for our 4th gen tail lights. I've even seen the amber LED bulbs for the turn signals. Be advised if you change the rear amber turn signals to LED then you should change the front ones also. This way the blink factor will be in sequence. Be advised, these LED bulb plug in cost about $11-$15 per bulb. So to do two red tails, two amber rear turns and two amber front turns would cost upward of $70-$96 tax included. Good luck.

The plug and play LED bulbs are not good for the tail/brake lights. They don't light up the housing enough.

If you going to do the tails, you'll need to do something like I did. Open them up, and retro them.

converting the front too, isnt' going to stop the fast flash.

LEDs draw less current the bulbs, so when you use LEDS in your turn signals the flasher 'thinks' the bulb has blown since so little current is being used. So it's flashing fast to let you know that it's out.

Not sure about the 4Runner, but on most other cars/trucks you need to replace the flasher with one that is load independent.

UPDATE! I FOUND THAT THE LENS WILL TAKE WATER. AS A FIX, I PUT THE SMALL BREATHER CAPS BACK ON AND USED DUCT TAPE TO WRAP AROUND THE PLUG AND THEN WRAPPED DUCT TAPE AROUND THE SOCKET AFTER I PUT IT BACK IN THE LENS THE LENS. BASICALLY, I WRAPPED THE WHOLE DAMN THING IN DUCT TAPE

Ya when I did my retro, I didn't seal mine up very well. Found condensation the first sunny day.

Ended up having to take them apart again, and get the water out. Then seal them all back up this time making sure I got it sealed. So far so good!!

I also added recently some heat shrink tubing over the duct tape...makes it look a bit nicer...and now the duct tape wont unwrap...temp changes here in PA are brutal on tape...
