My rear window defogger has one band not working...

If I remember correctly this is usually caused by a break in the band. What do I need to repair it?

mine has the same issue. is it in the middle of the element?

Find the one not working and there has to be a break somewhere.

On my 08 I have 1 band in the middle that does not seem to work either. I inspected it several times in the sun, with a bright light, etc., and could not find any break. Not even a wear mark.

Is there a trick to finding the break?

Hi Jeff and DRC, what I meant to say was, The middle strip of my defogger element does not work either. I inspected it in full sunlight, no damage what-so-ever.

Jeff is it your middle element strip that isnt working>? I think it may be how its made? vs. flawed part? My 1994 defogs all strip no prob and a lot faster at that.

I just went out and took a look at mine and I couldn't see anything either... I did notice a few scratches in the glass from my brides ring though...

I was thinking the same thing. Mine looks perfect so I was wondering if this is just how it works. They don't get very warm anyway so it could just be normal operation.

I use a VOM to check for breaks in defroster grids. Just hold one lead on the side of the grid and test (carefully) the suspect line at 1 inch intervals until the reading changes to locate the break.
