My Seat fabric is torn !

After 250,000 miles, my seat fabric is torn. The seats work fine but are torn.
I want to replace it like new. Advice on how to do it? Do I buy OEM? Aftermarket?

I bought my Runner used with 164K on it. The seats are in good condition, but the previous owner was obviously a smoker and the smell kinda lingered. I cover it with up with air fresheners for now, but eventually I plan to reupholster the seats completely. Luckily, my grandfather used to do this as a living so really all I need to do is buy the material (not too sure where to, but I don't think it'll be too hard to find) and ask him if he'd mind helping me. I'll post pics of the current fabric when I get a chance. I'd like to keep it the same color; nice and simple. However I <i>am</i> debating on whether to use cloth or leather.

i have some experience in re-upholstery and if you know someone this would be your best route. if you dont have the time but have the cheddar go with Wet Okole or Katskinz. they both make a direct application that will go over your seat. Im actually getting ready to re-do my door panels in a tweed. If your planning on doing your own, Tweed is a nice strong material. here is a pic of my work on my civic i did a while ago. i used tweed (the cloth) and vinyl (looks like leather)

Take it to a reputable auto detailer and have the entire interior steam cleaned. This is a lot cheaper than reupholstering and you still have the carpeting and headliner to worry about.

yeah they have all kinds of colors just make sure if your going this route, get the industrual stuff designed for cars (not clothes) Your material still looks pretty good though, i'd say steam clean it too!
