+1 I was surprised to see how well the cabin area (especially the roof/pillars) held up to supporting the full weight of the vehicle after the rolling stopped.
Glad you're OK! Sure sad to see that 4R all beat up... Thanks for sharing though. Good to know she's as tough as she looks.

I just found out this week when I finally got a hold of his agent. So for now, I have filed a uninusred motorists claim with my agent to take care of me. He will end up having to pay out of pocket for all the damages. So far hes up to around 40k for my 4runner and my medical bills so far.
He said his brakes didnt work. He did get the ticket for not stopping. I think there was something else that caused him not to stop, being he admitted right away to the sheriff it was his fault on the account that his brakes didnt work.

Christ, that happened to me once. Idiot had no insurance, ran a red light, and T-Boned me. Screaming at me it was my fault, yelling to the cop it was my fault, telling the cop that she ran the red light but I should have stopped... look on his face when he looked back at me was priceless.

Yet another demonstration on one of the top reasons I got the 4r - safety. I know cars are generally much safer each year, but it just seems the 4r is on top of the list from what I read.
Great you came out good, to look at it I would think serious injury.
Someone rear ended me once, then blamed me on why I was stopping on the road; I was slowing to turn into a friend's driveway.
She was on her cell phone, but of course her parents did not even address that one.
No damage to me (f350 I was driving), my pintle hitch went straight into her engine, her car did not even touch my bumper.
Then they came over to my house wanting to discuss things, I had to actually get verbally aggressive with them due to their actions, it was like they were trying to get me to admit fault and/or assist in paying for damages. Never saw them again after that confrontation.

If he lied to the police and said his brakes didn't work and when they check to see if there is any malfunctions there, and find they were fine, then he's going to have another issue besides paying for damages & medical bills!
Otherwise, if they did fail, he will still be held liable for all of your damages.

Holy cow! Glad you were able to walk away from this. I must say it's gratifying to know that the 4Runner is so tough, and all those safety gadgets actually paid off.

Thanks for testing out the safety features, I'm sure everyone can now sleep a little better at night knowing that stuff like this can happen and we can walk away.
In all seriousness, glad you are okay. Sorry about the 4Runner (I have a white one as well, this gave me a sick feeling seeing the condition) keep up with the PT and your neck will be better in no time. Enjoy the Tundra!

Physically I am fine. Just some soreness in my neck still and some headaches every once in awhile. Im hoping the physical therapy solves these issues as I would like it all to be over with lol.

Considering the fact that you were able to walk away from this with only the above, with that said, you have further solidified many reasons why I am on my 4th 4Runner.
I am guessing you didn't have any aftermarket subs in the cargo area? Imagine that!
