Ive toyed around with selling my 4R for an 80 LC but the width kinda put me off, i never realized how wide the body on them was.

The axles are also very wide... which makes them even more raddicalularsome. lol

I do agree, the T4R is a much more nimble platform. However the 80 is a TANK and they are wicked. I vote me meet up sometime when you get back and have a head-2-head in the rocks on the Rubicon. Or maybe I'm just trying to make an excuse to head South again this fall and see your gorgeous T4R in person. Im in either way. haha

After getting the lift on, i procured a set of late model Tundra 17s and wrapped them in some 1000 mile old BFG Mud Terrain 255/75/17s, including matching spare that still fits in the stock location! The first time out i noticed i was rubbing the rear mud flap bolts pretty bad, so i took a trip to Lowe's.

Found these that are perfect for the job.

Talk about a cheap and easy mod!

Hey Nate, what exactly did you do here? Something removed, trimmed, or just tightened up with the screws?

He swapped out the bolts that hold on the mud flaps with some lower profile bolts. I did he same thing, and it definitely cuts down on rubbing on the bolt heads, which *could* lead to chunking off some of the tread.

Thanks Todd, time over here hasn't been great but i thank God because it could have been much worse. I'm looking forward to some new updates on your own well thought out rig.

I keep thinking I need to do this. I have new rack bushings, new rack guide, no play in the system but the wheel still feels like its got play on the rocks.

Do it Tyler! It got rid of the annoying chatter that comes from the steering column when you hit a patch of washboard road, you've got the same welder i used on mine. :biggrin1:

Great pics Nate, nice last run and the truck looks great..No surprise on the hankooks to me. I have the dynapros and I also have a set of their IPIKE snow tire on my tundra and it is awesome too.
I gotta try that steering wheel fix. I have a slight rattle in the rocks or washboard that I can't pinpoint visually.
I understand about the switch to an 80 as I now understand the desire for more flex. First I need to learn to use what I got though.

Hey Nate, any plans on incorporating lighting to the new front bumper?

Colin sold my light bar to another friend of ours that was in a pinch. So i'm not sure man, with the success of the AOR GB for my bumper i think the lightbar might be a little too "common" so i am looking at a couple other options.

Man, I hate that Nate is gone. Will miss his posts till he gets back.

Do you know off hand which vendor and lights he bought on ebay for his rear LEDs?

I went back and tried to find them and couldn't, any 6" LED pair you get off eBay will be remarkably similar to what i am running. They are all coming out of the same place. Shop around for a deal, thats what i did, if they turn out to be junk, it wont be more than $30-40 you are out.

Thanks man. The more I look at his truck with this bumper the more I lean towards it. I just wish they would build me one for a 1" body lift. I used to not like LED light bars, because I don't know, they stood out too much on our trucks and reminded me of Knight Rider or something but they are growing on me. Doesn't seem like there a ton of options for this bumper being the cutout for the winch.

With the right hoop setup i think they look good. They still look goofy on flat top bumpers with no hoops. Ill figure something out in short order hopefully when i get back.

I would love to get in on some of your offroad adventures Addison, i've been showing my wife lots of pictures that you and [MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION] have taken on your trips! Kind of a forewarning for when i plan an entire trip around driving to Canada and wheelin'! lol How's the new job man?

Yep like AZ said, just replaced the large hex head bolts holding the flare/mud flap inside the fenderwell with countersunk bolts. I could hear the tire lugs catching before the swap, afterwards the tire is able to just rub without catching on anything.

I'm not going to go into or discuss any upgrades i ordered since i left or have planned until i am officially back in the states but i wanted to give an update on what my buddy Colin has been getting handled for me.

First, i cant stand the look of mismatch window tint. I know some places its mandated or a pain to tint your front windows, in NM they dont care at all. It can be double 5% and you wont get a ticket. Not my thing though, i just wanted my front windows to match the others. A local shop peeled off the old chipped and bubbled tint and put on a fresh film. I'm happy with how it turned out. Maybe it will keep the interior a little cooler also.

Second, the ol' 4Runner has had a rough year and a half since i purchased it from its original owner that never used it offroad. Its been parked outside the entire time being blasted by the desert sun and sand. Trail scratches from rocker panel to roofline, from headlight all the way to taillight. She needed a day at the spa!

A local detail shop did wonders on Colin's FJ and the bad scratches in his silver paint. I talked him into setting up an appointment for my truck and the results look incredible. It wont last but if i have it done every six months or so it will keep the truck looking ready for the mall.

Stealth Custom Series had these wheels in the pipeline for a looong time, at first they weren't really on my radar since the outer ring wasn't replaceable. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I had seen Vin mention that these were going to be heavier due to the beefy outer ring. That outer ring of protection i sorely missed having on my F5s. I love the F5 but offroad, it was always in the back of my head that i was one rock away from just destroying my rims and their finish. I wanted and needed the protection of that outer ring to offroad like i enjoy and to put my mind at ease on the trail.

The group buy was announced, and honestly it was the first time i had paid attention to the sizing specs on them, 4" backspacing?! I remember [MENTION=57545]4Ripcord[/MENTION] telling me when i first got my truck that 4"bs was the sweet spot on our trucks. I knew i would greatly appreciate the extra clearance i would get back near the firewall when turning but also the fenders and flares under full compression. Plus I have hope that it'll keep a little less mud from ending up on the sides of my truck after a day of trail running. The 3.5"bs F5s and the fat treaded Hankooks threw rooster tails out past my flares! Whatever, enough talking i know you want the pictures.

The bolts will be painted either silver or black when i am finally home, til then the gold stays.

I know right? hahah its been a garage queen for the last 6 months, i had to remove the rear tire mount to squeeze it into the garage. It was the only way to fit it in there and still be able to close the door. Thank you very much for the compliments Kyle, hopefully we get on a trail together sooner than later! Excited for you and your crawl box!

Not a bad thing, though... just a show of the enthusiam you have for your rig.

That is a bit funny huh? LOL Well he didnt really have a choice, I started selling off his old stuff while he was gone and needed to have them switched out that day to make the sale happen. I agree, I think they look way better and more functional for the rocks. The ring is pretty beefy even if its not removable. Mine have had taken a real beating and have held up great so far!
