Nav Day Mode

I just boought a demo 2011 limited but I can not get the Nav to automatically go to night mode at night. It appears that the day mode was selected while the headlights were on and according to the manual this is then remembered and set as the default. That screen which I know can be dimmed is aweful bright. Does anyone know how to get that "auto" night/day feature back on?

there is a dimmer wheel to the left of your steering wheel which will dim the gauges, etc. if that is all the way up the NAV will not exit day mode. turn that down just a little bit and it will unclick and your NAV should go to night mode when headlights are on.

If this doesn't work, press the "display" button with the headlights on and see if the soft button on the nav "day mode" is enabled. Touch that to turn it off.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where the sensor for this feature is? I thought it might be that hole between the two cabin lights, but that actually has some weird white LED light emanating from it? No idea what that is either?

Two light sensors in the truck. One on the back side of the rear view mirror. The other center dash, all the way against the windshield like a little nipple or something.
