Alright audio gurus I need some help!
I have a E7009 nav installed in my '05 and I just recently ordered the USA Spec iPod Interface #581PA20TOY for my truck. I had an older interface from USA Spec installed in my '03 and it was awesome but this one has me on the verge of returning it.
As you probably know it uses the external changer position to hook into the HU and you can switch between discs (or folders on the nav unit)
Here's what it looks like when you plug the iPod in and it starts to play...folder 4 is the folder to display song title while playing (no ability to control iPod manually)
In order to switch to the ability to control iPod manually you must switch the HU to folder five (direct)
Here's my BIG problem the ONLY way to switch from folder 4 to 5 is to select the "Folder list" on the main screen (see pic 1). Problem is, that locks out once you start moving.
As you can see from this picture there is a folder up/down button on the main screen but this does nothing but fast forward the song, same with the steering wheel controls (those usually change the disc with an extended hold, this is how I switched to manual with the old interface)
I can't deal with not having the ability to not be able to switch from the ability to display the songs to manual mode while driving (yes I know I could leave it in direct mode but that would display no track info) and I was wondering if any of y'all knew a fix or way around this/another unit that would work more efficiently cause this is making me nuts, I don't like having to pull over to switch stuff.
