Had it happen once to me. I think it was actually on my way home from getting my wheel stud replaced at the Toyota dealership. Wonder if it's part of a system/map update?

Mine does that quite often. It usually takes 2 reboots to get running again. It does that by itself. Sometimes it just freezes up. The music is still playing but it won't accept any input from radio controls or steering wheel controls. For me it happens maybe 2 or 3 times a month.

Mine did this too. I told my dealer and they ended up doing an update of some kind. It has been fine since.

Tons of threads in the mysterious Entune reboot issue. The consensus is that the only fix that works 100% of the time is to replace the head unit.

Hi team,
For those of you who are experiencing software glitches or other Nav system malidies, doing a master RESET on the system may eradicate this problem. Open the hood and the main fuse/relay box. Now locate the fuse that is labeled: RAD 20A This is the main fuse that allows the nav system's memory to operate. Like your windows laptop, there are also temporary files and history logs stored in the system's cache and hard-drive.
Pulling the main fuse and leaving it out for a MINIMUM of four hours will delete these broken, corrupted files and restore the firmware back to it's factory default settings like when the truck was new! ...remember: it needs four hrs minimum for these bad file to be deleted. You can still drive the truck, you just won't have use of the head unit for that period of time! 'Best to you',

I had been seeing this issue pop up more and more frequently along with the issue that occasionally the review camera gives a borked display or flat out no display at all. Since buying the latest SD card for the maps via eBay, which includes the system update, I've not had the issue. $60 minimum for dealer to update software only out of warranty, or $90 for an SD card that updates the maps and the head unit and takes 2 minutes to install, and 8 minutes to upload/update. If the $90 card didn't fix it I was going to look into head unit replacement, and I may still actually, although it's been punted down the road a little ways.

Look under Home -> Settings -> Software Update for that information.
I'm not sure what the current version is at the moment though.

This is my second 5.5 Gen and both units do this. They also will randomly drop the bluetooth connection to the phone and other fun things. The poorly functioning "infotainment" system in these trucks is the one part that I despise.
If I could get a basic non-touch screen replacement like what is in the early 5th Gens I would. Is there anything like that out there that would still retain the steering wheel volume and song-change button functionality?
