well, i am GLAD you asked!!!
it went perfectly. paid. shipped swiftly. received without issue. the owners manual for the navigation tells you how to pop out the old disc and put in a new one. did it. updated the maps!
if you are an impatient person don't freak out when your screen goes black and it flashes disc not found for about 5-10seconds. its just trying to read the disc. Then it reads it and updates. and you are in a time machine jolting you forward into the most recent (or close to it) navigation maps! :zoom:
I would buy from [MENTION=15785]J.A.[/MENTION] again in a heartbeat (and probably will in the next few years when my nav maps are out of date again :cheers: ). it was quick, easy, and it worked out. Now i can see roads that were constructed in the last 5 years haha, my disc was the original one that came in my truck.
Just received my new disc for my 2011 4runner from J.A. Fast shipping and installation was very easy. Will buy again when I need one.

Hi forum team,
Last week I purchased the latest Entune map update #U-97D DVD from J.A. (Top 4Runners)... There's some installation information in the (Navigation & Audio system) manual but I think they're pertaining to the JBL Premium head unit; mine doesn't have an INFO or a MAP DATA button to use as instructed. I asked J.A. about that and if there were any further, more relevant instructions for those with the NON JBL headunits e.g., Xm HD)) Radio systems, but he wasn't aware of any.
BTW: J.A. and his website were Extremely conscientious and helpful with the initial transaction and even now are working to help out in any way possible... thank's [MENTION=15785]J.A.[/MENTION] Below is a picture of my hu. Does anyone know if it's map media format is on a DVD or microSD-card and how to access it? I really appreciate your help with this, Rgds!

I have the dvd, just don't know how to install it; or if I was supposed to order the SD-card instead :noidea: ...I'll be sure to post here again once I find out how to do it!

Starting with the 2012 model year, all the headunits from then are updated via the USB drive.
The file should be "01032-HBEKR-15A.zip" (before it's unpacked), that will update the Entune to 5.1.0
Unfortunately, it does not update the map and GraceNote databases; this is strictly for the Entune OS. As far as I know if you want to update the Map & GraceNote Databases you have to purchase an ACN (Activation Card Number) from the dealer parts department:
Then the technician will use a SST USB Drive to get a request code from the Headunit, then inputs the Request Code, the ACN and additional information into TIS for a valid software license key, which then gets inputted into the headunit and allows it to update the map databases via the SST USB. It takes something like 35mins just for the update to installation once you validate it.
I don't think they started using the MicroSD cards until about 2014 on a lot of our models. But it does seem to be plug & play.

As you can imagine Kayla, this is all very confusing; many conflicting posts! [MENTION=953]moneypit[/MENTION] says:
What does he mean when he says: "The SD slot is behind on the bottom" ...does he mean, 'behind the hu on the rear panel'... behind the front trim panel... Do We still need to have the dealerships update our navigation systems even though we can download the Entune O.S. updates ourselves (for free)? Have we accomplished anything, purchasing the 'Discs' and 'microSD-cards' ourselves only to learn that it still cannot be done... these questions are completely rhetorical; no answers required!! ...Just thinking...

entune units are not as simple to update the maps as the old school atari head units that take compact discs. :madgrin:

Alright I don't know if this has been covered but I am just going to put it here anyways. According to JA's website my 2013 is Gen 7 (uses micro SD card) 12.1. However, I don't have a slot for a microSD anywhere. So, I think it is safe for me to say that my truck is an exception on JA's website as it is not Entune and is part of the JBL package. Also, my 2013 currently has a map DVD inserted version 12.1.
I am about to buy the latest Gen 6 disc off of JA's website but I wanted to be certain that I am purchasing the correct disc.
It should be noted that I have a Limited edition from Canada, if that makes any difference.
Also please don't roast me too hard for the crappy cell phone pics below, i have dropped my phone too many times that i have ruined the lens.
