There was just a thread on this earlier this week. You can try to remove the fuse for the NAV system and leave it out for at least 4 hours. If it is not fixed after this, you unfortunately need to visit the dealer.

The procedure that [MENTION=143340]Skeptopotamus[/MENTION] is referring to is one that RESETs the hard-drive/processor that controls the audio & Navigation systems. The theory is that this processor works much like "Windows" operates your computer. Occasionally, your computer's registry/cashe gets bogged down with "Temporary Files" "Idle Processes",...etc. Disconnecting power from the processor will clear the memory of these useless objects and reset the system to it's default setting; restoring it to it's original level of performance! To perform the navigation system 'Master Reset', open the main relay/fusebox under the hood.
4Runner's from 2010 to 2013 will have a fuse labeled 30A AMP. From 2014 and up, the fuse you're looking for will be labeled 20A RAD. Now pull the fuse that matches the description of the one that pertains to your vehicle and leave it out for a minimum of four hours; this will allow enough time for the the circuit's capacitors to drain. If you replace those fuses before the memory storage is fully drained the reset will not work and you'll need to start over! PS: There's no need to pull any other radio or audio system related fuses as they are all de-energized when the vehicle is shut off!

The pull the fuse reset didn't work on mine so the next step was a trip to the dealer. The dealer we went to knew exactly what we were dealing with and updated it. So far the update took care of all the issues we were having. The dealer also stated if it acts up again, they will just replace the whole thing. Our dealer experience was positive.
FWIW, the only thing I've had to take my 2008 4runner to the dealer for was also the radio which eventually failed again. I replaced it with a Pioneer touchscreen and haven't had a problem since.
