Theres a beep when it tell you when to speak, and also when you touch the screen.. It beeps...
I never had that, since I wired my amps directly to the headunit..
It kinda makes a difference when using the mic, since it doesnt always beep right away, thus sometimes getting the wrong command.

ah...you've got the camry nav, so you had to install an external amplifier, right? FYI, any of you with the solara nav (the one that supports the 10 speaker jbl surround setup) that one you get the beeps when you push buttons on the screen...dunno about the voice nav part yet, I'll know when I get mine...

j0, i am installing my Solara nav soon, and i want to do everything at one time, the speacker for voice nav, the auto dimm rare view mirror, the reverse camera and of course the mic for nav if i can. Any new info on these things??? how easy was the camera install, and did it work properly? any news on getting the mics from Gantz Toyota i think it was?..or you getting any more from Japan?
I am trying to be very patient and get everything before the install. Then it will be a one time deal and be done with.

For the mike, I just got the part number from a lexus forum, and just ordered it... I took a guess and hoped it would work (which it did).... I used there research on it.... Am I bringing them in.. probably not... Get it from Gantz Toyota..
The speaker for voice nav, has never been anything I played with since I wired a Camry nav, not a Solara nav, only thing I wired specifically is the beep option to a Alpine powered Nav speaker..
Reverse camera I learned about from the navigation thread found HERE
I purchased a keyhole style camera and installed it in the trailer hitch cover. I put a connector on it so I can remove it when I tow.

As you can see from my previous posts, I am not thrilled with the new microphone. I got it for $50 from Carson.
Anyone want it for $40? Granted it is "barely used" and you may have to buy some velcro for it but I have it in hand and could ship it via UPS.
Better than waiting 3-4 weeks for special order from Japan.
Let me know if anyone is interested.

Well i now have the mic J0 got from carson Toyota, i have my auto dimming mirror w/compass and my Solrara Nav Unit. i am only waiting on the reverse camera and will do the complete install then.
But now i need to know what other options you guys came up with for the button. I would really perfer to have the steering wheel kind of button that is on my steering wheel now. Is there any right hand side button that can be purchased and used in place of this other button.?

there is one on the lexus...colors aren't the same (AFAIK). Plus the wiring harness isn't there, so you'd have to run wires. I decided I didn't want to mess with the airbag on the steering wheel, so I think I'm going to mount it somewhere else...just haven't decided where yet. I drive with my right hand near the gear shift (actually near the radios you see in my avatar), so I was thinking of mounting it there. Dunno.
I, like you, am still just short a backup camera. Have you decided what you're going to do to hear the navigation voice?

Well i noticed there is 5 slots cut into my lower dash below the knee on the right side of the steering wheel. If there is nothing there, i am thinking of getting a speaker.amp like others here and installing it there. Anyone know what those slots cut in the lower dash are for?

if it's what I think you're talking about, I believe that's for one of the temperature sensors for the air conditioner system...good thought, though. You could still mount it up there somewhere just have it fire at the floor. I'm actually quite happy with mine sitting on the floor firing up. but then again, my truck is a continual work in progress.

all i need is my back up camera and i am going to try and figure out a way to get that button on the right of the steer wheel, just like the stereo buttons. It would make driving safer and make the voice command thing so much easy...not to mention make things look stock

microphone - resistor bundle?

I am a Sienna owner and found a link to this group from siennaclub.org.
I have a question for you:
Were there any resistors in the bundle you opened, or were all the wires connected straight together? The picture shows some funky things sticking up that could either be ends of wires or resistors.
I am thinking about building my own kit as you have unearthed a huge amount of information....
