Hey all,
My navigation on my limited is horrible. I cant even use it anymore because it always take me on the longest routes and seems to avoid all highways. Is there a setting or something that avoids highways. Whenever i am on the highway expressway it tells me to get off at every exit and when I am positive thats the best shortest and fastest route.

If you have any hints for me please help me out because I dont even use it anymore.

thanks

Dumb question but have you read the user manual yet? There are multiple settings for the highway that you can use. If you did, just ignore my post, if you didn't..............and I know it's painful, look into the Nav Users Manual.

There are a few things you can check on the 5th Gen...

Setup | Navi | Areas to Avoid
Setup | Navi | Detailed Navi Settings | Auto Avoid Traffic

Also, during route guidance, hit Route | Preference | Route Type |
then check out the route features such as Freeways, toll roads, seasonal roads, etc.

I agree with the toll road setting. When I first got it, I went through the menus and and book to get familar with it. A few days later I went to get my windows tinted and needed to take the highway with toll roads on it. It kept telling me to get off and take a "longer" route. At first it boggled my mind and I completely forgot about the material I read about in the book.

After the trip, I went back in and checked the setting for toll roads and all is well!

If the first time reading and learning it doesn't work, I would just sit down and review. It certainly helped me!

Good Luck

Freeways have side roads in parallel

I noticed that many NAVs are very inaccurate when freeways have side roads going in parallel with them. I experienced this in Dallas. I susepect the earlier posts are more likely the cause, but worth looking at if this is your situation.
