Navigation problem 2010 limited.

Having some random Nav issues, it starts up fine but is randomly resetting. Basically cuts out for a couple seconds while screen goes dark then get start up picture and right back to music station it was on. This doesn't seem like a Nav disc issue. It's happening a couple times per commute basically, don't think it is temperature related as happening when freezing and warm. No mods done since last fall and even then my rigid lights are completely separate from factory wiring. A sign of impending failure?

TOY2G did you end up just going aftermarket?

I found a company the refurbs them in WI (but their call center is in TX).

It is on its way back to me as we speak, it turns out the DVD drive in mine was going bad, so they replaced it.

I will do a full write-up and review once I confirm the fix. It cost $350 and about a week to get it fixed, and if it works like new, I'm happy as pie.

Fix confirmed????

Soooo reviving an old thread but my 03 Limited Navi (I know it's not the same gen) is giving me the same message and this is the only thread that talks about this message that I found in the search ( I might have missed up but I'm pretty sure I didn't). I did try the CD thing and it didn't do anything, I figured it's a different year model with a different setup so maybe a different method to fix it. I had this issue about 3 months ago and then all of sudden it started working again but only worked at the 4mile setting and would not zoom at all. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

I just recently ran into the same problem as q 4runner (op) in my new-to-me 2011 Limited.

Got the exact same error message as he posted in the photo (from page one of this thread).

At first it would come on every so often upon start up - so I figured it was just being finicky. Then recently it started to happen with more frequency, to the point it was happening almost every time upon start up.

Reviewing the Navigation manual, there is no mention that I could find of error messages or troubleshooting them.

I did find this link (posted in another related thread) on how to eject and re-load the navigation DVD.

I did the eject and re-load of my DVD, and the navigation system seems to be working fine now.

Update - the problem returned with the same error message. I ejected the DVD and gave it a good cleaning (I did notice some greasy fingerprints on it - from the previous owner).

I used a little spray of Windex and gently wiped with a microfiber cloth - wiping from the center of the DVD to the outside edge (not in a circular motion!).

Reloaded the DVD and the navigation system has been running smooth ever since.
