I still haven't gotten anything this season! My dad tagged a 5 point one while I was out of town but we just cooked up that whole thing with our friends and gave it out at our church since some people there need it way more than us. I'm still waiting on one though! I've been successful with ducks though.

Glad to hear everyone is ok! How big is that bear? How fast was the G going when it hit it?
Airbags? Pics? I always wondered how messed up my car would be if I hit a bear.
In other news, I almost bagged an 8 point deer the other day with .....just my 4R. Brakes on these trucks are miles better than when I had my 1996 Grand Cherokee!

Given my dad is like 5'9" it was a pretty big bear. We have a big ass grille guard covering the whole front so actually there were surprisingly negligible damage (to the normal person). Just a decent baseball sized dent on the bumper. No airbags, which kind of worried us since given we were going 65mph (slowed down to 25-30 by the time we made contact) we'd hope that MB would've assumed we didn't have a grille guard and just let the airbags pop, but given we have one I'm glad they didn't come out since they would've done far more harm than good.
I'll post/pm you pics later because since the dent is gonna cost a crapload to fix because German parts and my dad loves for his cars to look immaculate, I don't want to post the pics up until we've gotten it sorted out with insurance or decide to pay it from our pockets depending on the cost to repair since you know how insurance companies are these days.. But my dad drove it right back to work after dropping me and my brother who's in 8th grade back home (I don't have a vehicle because DAS autoshippers, screw them). But that should show it was negligible damage.
Long story short - A lot of the reason we had little damage was because of the grille guard, and well because G classes are freaking tanks which is why it was purchased (safety #1). But I honestly would've been more scared if a 120 pound deer came in front of the car because that thing might jump and go up the hood of the car.
EDIT: also we might need a new fog light, or at least the housing.

Pardon my excessive use of Mercedes on Toyota forums:
We also have an old 1998 ML320 (we were the first to get one in Florida, good memories growing up in that car).
Well that car has been sitting the garage for a couple years now and I just remembered it has a dent to that I can use for comparison.
Double/triple the width/height and put it on the bumper and you've basically got the damage.
I'm sure the deceleration played a role in lessening the damage. If we had rammed it at 60 there would've been hell to pay for, assuming we got out safe. We had a second or two where it walked onto the road and we knew we were gonna hit it, just had to brace for impact.

Where do you go? I have hunted D11 in the Rocket Point area but way too many "hunters" for the deer in the area?
