NE lift is Out & in the trash!

Hello all,

This is not to bash NE lifts but just to tell my story.

I ordered and installed my NE lift back in 11/04. Took me 9 grueling hrs installing it myself. I had problems and questions but I do have to say that Anthony was pretty helpful and responded quickly. However, after reading the past threads about NE and their products I decided a month ago to check my lift out.
The front lift 3": NE did send me and I unknowingly installed those crappy Grade II bolts that mount the front shocks. I had no instructions on the NE install and used a Rev- Teck install write up that I found on T4R.ORG.
The Rear 2.5": everything seemed fine until I read the problems with the Relocs. After checking my relocs out, there is definitely a 5-10degree greater angle on the relocs and my X-REAS shock bushing was having a premature wearing. Upon removing the Relocs a month ago, the entire thing was rusty from having 1 week of salted roads during Christmas. Now, it was not just surface rust, the metals had started to Pit.

I got tired and worried about the Crappy Grade II bolts and from other members who reports their lifts to be out of round. So I ordered a complete new Rev-Tek kit which I finally installed this morning, took 3.5 hrs this time. All the NE kit is gone, in the trash and my $400 + dollars wasted. I guess a sucker is born every minute.

About a month ago, NE did send me replacement Grade 5 bolts after everyone on T4R.org mentioned sueing NE and reporting them. What angered me was that there was no appologies, no regrets, no letter, nothing, just 6 bolts to cover NEs' butt. It felt insulting to get the bolts, after the fact and that It took me 9 hours to put the lift in originally and I spent so much money. But with my NEW REV-TEK lift installed I feel great that all material and workmanship superb and my 4runner will perform safely once again. For the past few months of having the NE lift, I just worried to hell that those Grade II bolts would eventually shear apart while driving down the highway. And those Grade II bolts, also were corroded!

I am so glad I found this site before investing in a lift. The conesus seems to be with Cornfed. I am glad I didn't waste a lot of money on that NE crap lift.

I doubt some new bolts will protect him if the original bolts failed and someone wanted to sue him, I doubt he has any insurance to cover his make shift business, anyways you live and you learn and life is expensive just don't make the same mistake twice, where does all the money go:o

What a POS and they are F'n liars. I don't know if it's still on their site, but they said the relocs were made from stainless steel. But in their instructions they tell you to paint it. I had a custom 304 stainless steel exhaust on my previous car, and for 3 years in the Chicago's salty streets there was not one rust spot. Just goes to show what a big lying sack of doodie NE is.

Plans are in the works to have a corrosion specialist take a look at these to see exactly why this is occuring.

Thanks Mustangsally,

Unfortunately the trash is gone, along with the NE kit. I wish I saved everything now that I read your thread. But I have to say that the just about every metal hardware was corroding and rusting. When removing the Relocs, I had to hammer it out of my lower shock mount and then I greased up where the relocs were mounted to prevent my 4runner from rusting from the rusted Relocs. Hope any other NE customer will see this thread and save their lift kits and do what your reply thread suggests.

that's awful to hear about money/time being wasted. At least you're happy with your revteck lift. Post some pics of your ride!
