Need a sanity check

Lol go for it. You and I are crazy for spending what we do on bikes so why not 4Runners?

With all the snow I haven't been out and now it will be muddy with all the melting. Getting antsy to get out.

Is KDSS problematic as another here has mentioned?

It has all the typical Premium items plus KDSS. Truecars price was similar to this (within a hundred or two) but without the KDSS.

Turns out the dealer is not willing to "hold" it til Monday even with a deposit so I am planning to pick it up tomorrow.

Now we get a newbie in the 5th gen section!

Forget I asked. Just read up on it. Nothing of concern from what I can see outside of a few naysayers.

If you are going to go hard on the mods it is kinda useless. If you are only going to lift it a bit or keep it fairly stock it's a great option. Glad to have you here!

If you aren't looking to mod much, go for the KDSS. It really improves the road ride. I didn't know I wanted it until cornering one with KDSS and then one without.

I'm officially no longer a KDSS fan. System is a royal PITA to deal with. If you can get one without... I think you are much better off in the long run.

I guess it is OK if you plan to keep stock or sell within a few years and some have lifted without any issue.... but overall it has some long term problems IMHO. The forum members all love it..., but a few people that I know who have it really wish they would have understood the downsides before getting it.

Meh, hogwash. Google "Toyota KDSS problems". Most of what you find is issues after a less than talented shade tree mechanic attempted to bleed the system and screwed things up.

Its like the person who posts all over the internet that Dell desktops suck because their cupholder (the cd-rom) broke after a few uses.

I personally have never heard of any issues with KDSS short of some dummy trying to do something he was not technical enough to do.

My 2cents...wife and I purchased two '16 4runners end of December. Hers and SR5 Premium, mine a Trail Premium with KDSS. I told them $2500 off msrp for each was a fair number, they agreed, done deal.

GOT IT!! Just got home after 7 hours of driving. Will provide some pics tomorrow.

Few things....
Solid vehicle inside and out.
Why they put H/T tires on it I'll never know but whatever. Will keep'em for 20k or so and swap 'em out.
Blue is a great color. Love it.
Engine is not my 4th gen v8 (which is going to my college son) but I knew that and it more than gets the job done.
I guess KDSS is good because I took a tough curve on an off ramp at some speed and there was zero roll/lean.....but what do I know.

Very happy.

Why did you get fenders for mtb? Haven't seen that out on the trails (although I'm usually more concerned about my own travails than paying attn to others out there )

This time of year we have a ton of mud and some of our rides are higher speed two track. Sunday when I got back to the 4Runner at the trail head my back had an inch of mud built up down the center. 10 miles of the ride was on mud roads. The ones I bought (SKS Blade II) take literally five seconds to put on and take off. By April things will have dried up enough to take them off til October lol. I know a lot of places won't let you ride when the dew is too heavy or it misted the day before but here because of the rain and snow we get the trail changes whether we ride on it or not. We reopened a two mile section this past year that had not been ridden for a year or so and basically had reverted back to the surrounding terrain! Yeah our tracks we leave just get smoothed out the next rain or snow.
