Need Advice! Fluctuating Temperature & Intermittant Overheating.

shahsmerdis & mtbtim, thanks - iPhone user, will look into an OBDII scanner and an app that works on Apple. Seems like I'm cool for the moment, considering replacing the radiator when I do the next TB/WP change in 25K for peace of mind and will probably throw in a new thermostat and fan clutch depending on price.

For posterity, here's what I found on the App Store:

What exactly is a safe coolant operating temp? After 1-2 hours of city driving, i was reading 96C. no rough idle no smoke or anything.

My truck tends to sit right around 185-190. If I'm pushing the truck going up hills, I've seen as high as 195. 96C equals 205F and I've never seen that high of a temp on my rig but others on this forum have.

From what I've seen from people reporting on this forum, normal warm operating temps are between 190-210.
