Iv'e been trying to research what to look for in an auxiliary battery, but have not been able to find anything. I am installing a dual battery system and I am considering either an Odyssey 925 or 1200. I am wanting to install it in front of the intake. I have not been able to find anything on if it will even fit. Does any one have any recommendations?
Need advice on a second battery.

Dual Battery Install in 2004 4Runner
I installed the Dirty Parts FJ dual battery kit with the upgrade switch in my 2004 4Runner. I used a yellow top optima battery. In the 4 runner putting it in front of the passenger side fire wall I only needed to drill three holes using the air intake mount as the 4th as directed.

I have a V6 and I will be using an IBS system. I have an ARB twin compressor waiting to be installed also. My vision is to install the compressor and hopefully a 1gallon tank behind the intake next to the firewall and the second battery behind the headlight. I know it is possible on a 5th gen but am not sure on a 4th.

I have a group 34 x2 battery from batteries plus that I am installing in front of the air intake. I used the battery tray for a 5th gen from shrockworks and modified it to fit. I had to move the power steering resivor mount on it back but it should work. I'll take some pics when I'm done

Yes, I will post some pictures with that here in a little bit. All I had to do was drill three holes to get it to fit where the 5th gens already have studs in those places. It fits perfectly though. I also had to cut the wiring harness to extend it because the 5th gen extension that came with the kit has a different plug that the 4th.

I have a 2005 4Runner and trying to install a second battery at minimum cost - e.g. without moving things around in the motor :hippie:
I realise the post is a bit old, but could you say which of the Optima Yellow Tops batteries did you fit in? The smaller I found was 23cm large and it does not seem that it would fit here...?

Looking into this the difference seems to be that I have a Chilean model, and the engine is a bit different from the US one... or maybe it s a different reason, but anyway on my engine the break pump is where Margy put the 2d battery in theirs, and that would not let me put the battery there...
why the second battery - with my boyfriend we are planning to live from the car full-time, visiting south america and occasionally working from it too (from PCs) - so a second battery would be useful for lights, charging devices, and at some point a cooler (where we are is too cold atm haha)

I get it, you want to add some extra options to your 4runner, that could be cool yes

How are you liking your setup now that you've been running it a bit?
Anything you'd do differently if you had to do it again to another rig (mine)?
I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but my alternator went out, but it gave me a reason to install a high output one. I basically learned as I went with this one. I would clean up my wiring, I will eventually install a converter in the back with some 120v connections and maybe a way to connect solar to the extra battery.
