NEED HELP HID High Beam install gone awry

So I got my Kensun HID high and low beam kits the other day. The low beam install was simple (much easier than I thought it'd be) and super pleased with the result. I got the 8000K ones cuz the whole kit was only $39.99 on Amazon

Once I got those in I thought the High Beams would be like a 10 minute job as there are no dust covers to drill and a little easier access. Pulled the OEM high beams out no prob...

But then... COULD NOT GET THE NEW HID HIGH BEAM BULB TO FIT. I mean it would go in, but would not turn and lock into place. Tried for a good hour and I feel very fortunate to not have broke the bulb or the housing as I was putting some pressure.

Below is a pic of the HID in the hole, it just doesn't fit right.

It's hard to tell from the photos if the tabs are the same size and or located in the correct orientation or not.....
You will need to measure all of the tabs and locations ...maybe they sent the wrong ones.

BTW, you do know those will have a "blue" color and will have less output than say some are 5000 kelvin, and also blind oncoming traffic when on due to a halogen reflector don't you?

The tabs are right orientation and size is almost exact on the tabs. Regarding blinding oncoming traffic, I don't intend on keeping my high beams on them. And, these high beams are 6000k and I expect a little blue. My low beams are 8000k and yes, those have a nice blue hue.

I was going to tell you almost the same thing that [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] advised as there are two small tabs and one large on the base (or vice-versa). When I installed my LED low beams I had the same trouble that you describe. It took me almost an hour to get the left (driver-side) in because the battery obscures the portal as well as my hand when trying to line it up with the proper tab arrangement; I had to keep changing the position of the tabs (pull it out and turn) until finally it dropped in... BIG PITA! Best!

Throw the 8000K (Is this a purple light?) bulbs away and get a proper HID bulb (4300K-5000K). Way better output. And don't get a cheap kit. A quality one will last longer.

It's a light ice looking blue. Definitely not as blue as I was expecting which I am happy about. I went with 8000K cuz they were on sale for $39.99 for kit vs. $69.99 for the 6000K kit. Definitely not purple though.

I don't disagree with your statement. However, the low beam kit was $39.99 for the 8000K. Which to me was worth it try and see how it turned out. Turned about pretty well. I'm happy with it.

Just gotta try some of the suggestions above to get my high beams rolling now.

I've "cheap" ApexCone kit in my 2004 4Runner for many years now and it still works fine.
 
Since everyone talks about your 8000k. I thought I would chip in a little. Here is my experience on HID. I used to be like you liking that blue color but when it starts to pouring down rain I realized that I couldn't see jack sh*& on the road. Try to listen to recommendation from others and go with the lower Kelvins. I personally like the 5000k or 6000k MAX and also get the 55W instead of 35W. Yes I know that blue looks good but think about safety also man. You'll regret it when its raining so bad and you can't see sh%$ on the road then have to pull over to the side. Kind of embarrassing for an SUV.

Wasn't going to say it but was thinking the same thing, that stereo install was AWESOME with quality stuff, probably best I've seen in this forum. Why not get some good lighting, as in a full retrofit OP?

Maybe I spent all my money on the stereo lol? I figured for $39.99 I couldn't lose and certainly significantly better than OEM. The ratings on this kit averaged around 4.5 stars out of 5 on Amazon.

Question though: why everybody hating on the 8000k?
