Yeah. Good point. I aimed them down thinking I could run them all the time. If I can't cut the glare down, then I will re-aim them straight ahead.

i wouldn't run them all the time, especially if you HID converted them. even if you pointed them down..they are really bright. have you looked at them from like 100 feet away with them on? its just one giant blob of light thats super bright

Kinda. They are REALLY bright. I just want to get some good use out of them.

once you have them...you'll notice you rarely turn them on..maybe just for show but thats all. mainly for looks i could say?... but still. those HID conversions must be isntant daylight. let me see how yours turned out and i might follow

haha totally X2 on that! My PIAA's are the ION Crystal yellow so i really only use them when its wet, or snowy. I don't know it may be different if they had a white light. Cant wait to see those pics...

Ok. I tried to get some good pictures tonight, but I really don't feel like the ones that I got are representative of the brightness of these lights. Keep in mind that these lights are aimed very low (lower than headlights) and are aimed in the same spot. It would be easy to spread the light wider and farther down the road. I chose not to do this because I'm trying to use them on the road. I would put money that this conversion lights up signs at least five football fields away.
For anyone new, I have the Hella 700s converted with DDM 55 watt 5,000K HIDs. My headlights are Sylvania SilverStars (one of the brightest halogen bulbs on the market).

Hellas: You can see how concentrated they are. Like I said before, they could easily be spread out and aimed higher.

I still have some work to do with them. As you can see they aren't aimed straight.
GottaBeTRD- I'm at about 75% right now. The only thing holding me back is putting them in these aftermarket housings. I want to see if anybody else has done it.

Yeah, if they were pointed straight ahead they would light up a lot of road. They make my Ultras look yellow.

I can see your concern on that light output with those aftermarket housings though, thats crazy i thought it was just on the black ones? someone has had to try it?? by the way are you running silverstars in those pics?

Yep. That's with the Ultras. It's crazy how the HIDs make them look yellow.
I wonder if the beam pattern changes with HIDs or if it stays the same. I would be ok if it stayed the same.

You'll blind the hell out of oncoming traffic if you leave those on all the time. The only reason I leave my Hella's on all the time with my headlights is because they're the fog pattern, which is a different housing than the spots that you have. Looks good though. I may think about taking my Hella's off my bumper lip and putting them lower down now.

That's my main concern. I don't want to interfere with anyone's driving.
I drove behind my Mom a few days ago and then had her drive in the opposite lane. She said they were fine.
I'm gonna get a second opinion from my Dad.
I'll be pretty stoked if they're fine.
I dont mean to be rude at all, but I guess I just don't understand why your objective is to have auxiliary lights aimed so low?
You got lights for additional output. Your regular low beams should be good enough to light the road ~50 yards in front of you, theres no need to illumate the ground 100 times over that close to you. So why not aim the lights high enough that you can use them in addition to your high beams when you need them, or off roading?

If I were to aim them higher and only use them like a highbeam they wouldn't be super useful. Since they are HID they take a little while to warm up. They would be very useful offroad, but I'd really like to get more use out of them.
I'm not very happy with the stock lights. Even with the Ultras I don't think they put out enough light down the road. I also have my windshield tinted, so night driving can be tough sometimes. These lights, even aimed low, throw light almost the same distance as the highbeams.

You read my mind. HIDs for the headlights are going to be ordered this weekend.
If the HIDs in the headlights give me the amount of light that I'm looking for, then the 700s will be re-aimed.

You should be happy with the HID's in the headlights -- as it's been argued many a time on here, projector retros will only help others and not you (being facetious here). I can't remember, but have you upgraded to '99+ housings? And on another side note, which company did you go with for the headlights? Almost a year with my VVME's and still working great. $80 and good quality parts, lo/hi and not just lo's.

Yeah, I have the 99+ lights, but I made the mistake of going aftermarket.
I "think" the headlights are from Eagle Eyes. Not positive though. It's been probably a year and a half at least.
I've been trying to figure out if I want to go with VVME or DDM. VVME's kit (fat ballast) is now $50 and comes with a one year warranty. DDM's kit (slim) is $50 also, but comes with a lifetime warranty for ballast and bulbs.
I'm pretty sure that both come with anti-glare shields too.
