I just hooked up my pioneer 1600dvd with the pac tato harness, the speakers get really crackly at higher volumes. Does anybody know how to fix this? Also i bought the best kits dash kit and it doesnt fit with my dash. Im really getting frustrated with all of this. Any help would be great.

What was your old stereo volume set at before you removed it? It should have been a 3/4 volume or else you are likely to get the problem you described.

As for the dash kit, mine required some trimming to get it to fit properly.

I think the PAC TATO has volume adjustment sliders on it, right? You may need to lower those a bit so the signal doesn't get so amplified.

I turned the volume all the way up when I removed my jbl radio. Should I leave the surround sound on or off when removing the radio?

You can leave the surround sound on. I left it on in mine and the center speaker in the dash still works - at least I think it does.

Okay. And how much trimming will i have to do on the dash kit? When i took my radio out and checked to see if the dash kit would fit. It didnt seem to look like it wouldnt even fit. What do i need to trim? The old trim out of my 4runner to make the new dash kit fit?

Bringing this old thread back to life! Did this issue get resolved? I'm expriencing something similar with my PAC TATO and JBL installation. Everything sounds great until I turn the SCION T1819 radio past 20 then I hear static/distortion coming out of all speakers. I did turn my volume to MAX before removing the old radio, maybe I should've turned up to 3/4 volume?
