I start taking my rack off this mornin to prep for paint. Have three screw heads that strip of course. Tried to drill one out and drill slips and slides across roof! Does anyone know if dremel makes an attachment that I could g t in the groove to cut the heads off? Any other suggestions?

Try some leverage under the rack while unscrewing to put some upper tension on the bolt to see if it comes out... if you haven't thought of that...

I really don't want to recommend you try a chisel, just because the hammering may deform the holes in the roof. But if they are already stripped, you may have to "relocate" those holes anyway...

You could always grind away with a small stone in your dremel if you can't find a small enough cutting attachment.

that's all I gots. sorry.

There is some thing called an easy out made for removing stripped fastners. They sell them at sears...lowes etc. Work like a charm..might as well get one at lowes considering u will need new fastners anyhow. Dont forget to get something in stainless or monel so it wont rust up there.

Finally got them all out. Had to get some with the ease out and some with the dremel. Now time to clean , sand and paint. Thanks for the help.
