Need Pro Advice, Respond if you have any ideas.

I wanted to make a really great black 4runner build and i like the 1996-1998 look without the fatlip front bumper.

But then, i also like the 2002 Sport edition that comes with matched black flares and bumpers. + a hood scoop and better interior.

So my questions:

1. Can i replace a 2002 front Fatlip Bumper, and install a front oem 1996-1998 Bumper onto it?

2. Can i preform a satoshi mod on a 2002 4runner, using a 1996-1998 grille like the usual satoshi mod is preformed on those models.


In conclusion, can i make a 2002 4runner front bumper look like its a 1996-1998 front bumper with a satoshi grille mod on it?

If I'm not mistaking, it is NOT a direct swap but with a little modification it can be done. I know members have done the opposite (99-02 fat lip on 96-98 4R)

You use a 96-98 grille for a satoshi mod. You cannot use one from an 02. The 96-98 grilles work on all 3rd gen.

When you do the Satoshi mod, look at partsgeek.com or Rockauto.com. They both sell replacement grilles that work well. I've bought at least 15 from partsgeek to build Satoshis for people and never had a problem with them fitting.

I will be taking a bumper off a 2000 in the next few days, and I have a 97 in the garage. I can take a look at the difference as far as mounting goes. It was my understanding there wasn't one, and that these were the same frame/mounting, but I have never tried, haha.

Either way, if you have a line on a good 00+ I would pull the trigger and figure out the little bumper situation later. I know there isn't going to be anything big in the way to prevent you from doing this.
