Need some lift gate love!

Hey guys, I need some help! My son shut the rear gate on my 2005 sr5, with a nylon tie down strap hanging out. The strap is stuck in the lock/latch, and the gate will not open. I have the inside panel removed, and the left side of the plastic lock cover off. I see the two levers and have tried to work them while pushing from the inside, but it won't budge. I'm not sure if I am working the levers right. If I destroy the plastic housing around the lock, can the lock set be removed from the inside?? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Only thing I know to tell you is that it is the small lever and you need to pull up on it while pushing out on the gate. If it were me I would have someone on the outside pulling from the bottom while you lift up on the lever and push from the inside. Good luck.

Update

Well I ended up doing surgery with a cut off wheel. I carefully cut away the lock/latch assembly one piece at a time until only the bottom section was left. I then was able to hammer the latch open with a large screw diver.The strap was actually not in the latch, just a coincidence that the lock froze up at the same time. The was a ***** to get open, and Toyota should get a kick to the ass for this set up. NOW...I need a lock/latch/motor. You guys have a place with the best prices for factory parts? I believe the part# is 69110-35090, google puts the price at around 200-260$

Got it all back together, this time I coated every thing with never-seize. It seems to be working great again.
