Need some links for getting my 285s to fit at stock height

I knew it! I had a feeling they would work. This cements the fact that my next set of tires will be 285's.....just running stock '99 tall coils in the front. A little trim and pound, and I'll be perfect.

... but really though, I have brand new 99 springs too, will this work?

My pinch welds are already smashed in from my BFH'n. I didn't think it would fit because it really seems like the tire is big and at full lock, etc, even though there's no rubbing, it seems like it's about as close as it can get... but I might be wrong, nevertheless.

Now I need to invite a friend over with 285's and test this ****...

What I have done is fine for street driving and will more than likely cause me problems off road with no lift. plus I've removed running boards, lower plastic off front bumper and rear bumper. Those could have been some problem areas...not sure. Just something to keep in mind.

Wanted to update

I cut a little more than was needed but I wanted to make sure I got it the first time. I trimmed the plastic back to where the plastic plug/clip (circled in green) is so I wouldn't have any excess flapping around or get'n caught up on the tire. I took the 10mm headed bolt out where it attached my fender flare to the wheel well and cut some of the excess fender flare out too. The only thing I wish I would have done was hammered that metal back I have enclosed in the red box in my pic...just a little but I have no scrubbing lock to lock even with suspension slightly compressed.

Just an FYI, the air intake tube runs through the pass. side fender and picks up air right above the hole you cut in your plastic liner. I got a lot of tire dust going straight into my air tube and into the air box (where the filter is). I closed that tube off and drilled a 4.5" hole in front of the airbox (deckplate mod w/o the deckplate) and my air filter stays a little cleaner because of it.

Good to know. Hadn't planned on doing the deckplate mod til later but looks like it may be sooner. Thanks for that heads up!

Driver Side---20 3/4
Passenger----20 1/4

That half inch may explain why I rubbed a little more turning right before the trim and not my alignment.

Going to revive this because I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I'm about to make a run halfway across country and was wondering how much rubbing you had with those 285s? I'm torn between just staying with stock tires right now but I have to buy new ones and I don't want to just buy the stock tires and have to turn around to buy the 285s right afterwords. I really need new tires before I make this trip.

Get the 285's and if the rubbing is too severe, do this: 4Runner on 35's... | Trails Less Traveled

3 words. Used Tire Shop. You can get a set of 265s to fit for around 150. BOOM. If the 285s fit do it but there's another option

With some clearancing, 285's should fit no problem. People have fit 315's with no or little lift, so 285's shouldn't be a problem.

Reviving this thread as I am considering 285s on my 99 SR5 - currently on 265/75 with 1.25 wheel spacers. After installing new bumper, fender to center hub is at:
Driver side: 21”
Passenger side: 21.5”

Since this thread started, is anyone else running 285s with 99 tall springs?

Also, I kept seeing BFH in the previous posts. What does that stand for?
