"Need Sway Bar advice"

G'day team,

Today, 4/21/13, marks the one yr anniversary of me walking down to the local Toyota dealership (Hackensack Toyota), to pick up my brand spankin' new, 2012 4Runner limited; which was ordered just days before, on the 18th.

Ever since I got it, I've managed to keep some sort of modification project going, even if only aesthetic; which has been therapeutic for me.

Now I'm considering beefing up the sway bars/links (front & rear), because one of the best things I like about the 5th Gen "Limited", is it's ability to hug those corners at higher speeds. So I figured, "...why not invest a little more into the suspension system to see if I can get Even More performance out of it's already, 'sports car like' road manners!"

My question is: Is there a Toyota model which uses a heavier (stiffer) sway-bar than is used on the limited, e.g., T.E., F.J., other??? If not, is there a known "aftermarket" product that would be a superior substitute for the stock one?

I did a search last night, but all of the sway bar mods that I saw involved replacing shocks, springs, UCA's, or height mods, etc... no mention of sway bar upgrades per'se, (keeping mine stock height).

There isn't an aftermarket sway bar upgrade that bolts in place. You would have to come up with a custom sway bar using a torsion bar. If you want increased performance in handling your best option is to upgrade your suspension to a high quality coilover like Icon, Radflo, Sway Away, King, Fox etc that will reduce body roll and brake dive.

That's exactly what I feared. Whenever I do get around to swapping shocks, springs, UCA's, etc...it'll be because of "Catastrophic X-REAS chain destruction system failure phenomena" LOL.

Hoping for a user friendly option. Thank you for your input.

You can remove the factory struts and shock absorbers without ruining the XREAS system. They have a factory check valve so everything stay happy when removed.
