Need Your Old Bumper!

Hey all,

I know this isn't the WTB forum. I have a thread there but hoping to get more visability here. I need to replace my front chrome/steel bumper (long story) on my 98 SR5. I'm not as big of fan of the more protruded nose of the later model 3rd gens, so I would like to stick to the same bumper. I THINK the 96-98 models are the same...maybe 99s too but not 100%.

If you've upgraded your bumper and have the stock laying around please let me know.

Thanks!

If you wait until the first of the year, I'll sell you mine cheap. I plan on getting an aftermarket bumper with some of my tax check.

mine looks like crap, you can have it for free.
Pay for the box and shipping (Mail me the PDF fedex label or something)

99 Limited

Well I definitely want one in good shape otherwise I could just keep mine on there lol.

Millerad, definitely keep me posted, I'm not in a huge rush so the first of the year could work.

I will also have mine up for sale around January. I ordered a Shrockworks and I am just waiting for it to come in. It is the "fat lip" style bumper so I don't know if you would be interested.

Dunno how far you are from upstate ny but my bumpers coming off this weekend if you are intrested ..... It's like new and it's off a 99

I just received my Shockworks today after ordering it in August. My perkins performance rear will be here on the 17th. The rear has some of the typical rusting as of the 97's do The front has believe it or not water marks where the rain dripped from the hood onto the bumper.... I hope to have all this stuff installed in 2 weeks time depending on the Rhino lining guy.. after that they are up for grabs.... pictures upon request

hey,
I'm glad to hear it... i ordered mine in August and it just arrived yesterday(according to the frieght company) i had it delievered to the shop thats going to install it. I'm going there tonight to take some pictures of it. Like i sadi when the rear gets here i'll be good to go
Best of luck!

I plan on ordering my front bumper soon, and then you're welcome to the factory oem one from my '96 SR5 if you don't mind paying shipping...

Pic of bumper mount on the 96, ignoring bumper lift bracket and hitch under frame:
Bolts with 2 bolts on either side to bracket around body mount. That's it.

Pic of bumper on 99, stock:
I've never taken this one off but can see a bolt on the bracket around the body mount, a bolt on what looks to be an extension from the other 2 bolts in the elongated frame cap, which the 96 doesn't have.

The two bolts at the frame cap appear to support the crumple zone the 96 doesn't have. The other two bolts attach the actual bumper to the truck. It almost looks like the earlier bracket could be used with the newer bumper if you minus the plastic fatlip cover up top and the crumple stuff. That's something I'm not curious enough to find out for you, the ground's wet and it's really cold outside too! Find someone's fatlip close to you and check it out for yourself if you're determined to try it because even just shipping would be an expensive fail. Some measuring is in order. Maybe someone's done a fatlip to thin bumper here and will chime in?

And now we both know. :)
