I'm going to do a full write up here eventually, once I install my new fender and snorkel. Here are some quick pictures of the OEM antenna and mount as well as what I pieced together.
So the biggest pain in the ass part is removing the fender liner. I cut a piece of 3/8? down until I found the correct length I was looking for. Added two lock nuts at the correct lengths as well after playing with that for a while. Then remount and attached the top portion. Then heat shrink it so it holds better while driving.
