I contacted NestahEdition mid-week and had the antenna in my hands by Monday. Super-easy transaction. Loving the blacked-out look. Thanks Nestah!

Aside from looking burly as f*** this setup gets INCREDIBLE AM/FM reception compared to the stock antenna. I haven't gotten around to doing the WX 75 and splitter install, but will update this thread when I do. I spend a lot of time on the road chatting on my CB during my weekend NJ-->VT-->NJ commute all winter, so hopefully I can provide some solid performance info for you guys.

Definitely keeping an eye on this! I would love to have a CB without it looking like I have a CB.

I see its mounted on a spring. Does it wobble around a lot? Is it distracting? I'm not that familiar with CB antennas, don't know how stiff they are.
 
When you got around installation of splitter, please make good step-by-step guide for guys like me who afraid tear off panels and mess with cables. I want to install splitter as well but don't have clear understanding of how to do it.

I ended up modding mine again this past summer because when I went to a 34" tire it raised my truck up another 1/2" and the firestik was hitting my garage door.

I was going to cut the spring down(like Antman's) but I found that the heavy duty spring was stronger then the 5mm stud that held it in place and would bend the stud instead of getting any spring action anyways. The spring weighs almost as much as the fiberglass Firestik antenna.

However,the rubber mount in the fender acts as a spring for the oem antenna and works fine just for the firestik too as it turns out.
I have about 4-5 months and 5000+ miles on it and wheeled in Ouray this past summer with it on like that and it's held up fine without the heavy duty steel spring. I cut a piece of 3/4" black heavy duty heatshrink and put over the stud and shrank it to make it more aerodynamic and blend in better.

I used the Firestik splitter and have used my Cobra 75 and Pioneer Stereo hooked up since then. Not the best CB antenna reception/transmission but good for about a mile or so and served it's purpose offroad .Works great for the radio too.

Mtclimbervt - yep, I'm in Hoboken as well.

Kraeken - it catches wind at higher speeds and bends but the spring is pretty stiff so there isn't much back-and-forth wobble. It's about as distracting as the stock antenna -- so not much at all really.
 
Who has the parts list to convert to a firestik FM antenna? I broke my antenna last weekend driving through ice covered trees. Thanks!

Correction: I finally got the antenna drilled out and the remaining parts backed out.

I am running an antenna from Nesta on my FJ and am also very happy with the performance and especially the look. I can't say I saw improvements in FM performance but it was not hurt. I typically listen to satellite radio all the time anyway. For me it was the look as it matches the CB firestik mounted on the back door.

DIY steps ...
1.)E-mail and buy adapter/spring from Nestor
2.) Buy 2 ft Firestik antenna....Amazon.com: Firestik II FS-2BK 2 feet 300 Watt FS Series Tunable Tip CB Antenna - 1 Each - Black: Car Electronics
3) Unscrew your factory antenna
4.)Screw adapter to truck
5.)Screw Firestik onto adapter

I personally didn't use the spring as it made it too tall for my garage opening. The rubber antenna base on the fender has enough give in it IMO and the stud will bend before the spring anyways from my experience.

Wow! Is that an antenna on your r/f fender or is your 4R really happy to see you?

Ordered the FireStik II and emailed Nestor. I would kike to try the spring/combo.

Was wondering what, if any issues anyone had while attaching?

Really like the look of it, hoping it looks sweet on my 2012 4runner.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the cool idea, I really hope this works as well as the stock antenna, as I just quit my Sirius Sub and rely on FM and streaming from my Galaxy S4 via Bluetooth :)
