New 15 TEP - Weekend Project

Back in July, I put a deposit down on a Pro in Super white before we all knew what the final specs were going to be on it. After I found out it didn't have KDSS or a sunroof, I decided to go a different route. In the meantime, I have been researching and collecting parts.

I just picked up my new TEP last Saturday and am loving it. Decided to go with BOSS coilovers up front as I really wanted a 600lb spring and there were only a couple options for a fully adjustable CO's with that spring rate. Also got some Icon remote resi rear shocks, SAW 1.5" coils, and some light racing UCA's. Went back and forth between a ton of different combos, but liked this one the best for my planned uses for the truck. For wheels, went with some FN 5 stars, 17"x8.5" -4mm offset in bronze. I have black wheels on my 3rd gen, and had gunmetal on my g37, so I wanted something a little different.

I am going to be installing this weekend, set my ride height, then decide on tires. Leaning towards the new Nitto Grapplers G2, but also considering a number of other AT options (Toyo, Cooper, Falken etc..)

What kind of lift is that? Looks like it's a shorter version of the regular two post lifts I used.

It's coming along great! Just finishing up the pass side front. Got a late start. Sure is nice working on a brand new car with no dirt or rust.

It's a Danmar maxjax mid rise lift. Perfect for suspension work.

Haha...Would love to have a wrenching party over here. Built out my garage over the past couple years, and have more or less completely torn apart and rebuilt my 3rd gen in it. Any of the Seattle area guys need access to a lift and tools, shoot me a PM and bring beer :biggrin1:
 
Got the front all installed and buttoned up. Everything went smoothly - except for those damn KDSS brackets - they were a huge PIA for one person, so I left them over night to tackle today. Here are some shots from the install - the initial settings on the CO's gave me about 4.5 inches of lift - looked ready for take off! I have since cranked them back down to 1.5 inches and am waiting on the rear coils to come in tomorrow or Tuesday and will dial everything in to about 2.5 up front and 1.5 in the rear.

You should paint your calipers while your wheels are off!! They turn a dull rusty color fairly quickly!

BTW Your garage Kicks A$$!!!
 
Looking good!!! How high is the garage ceiling and do you have it close the garage door to lift the vehicle up? I am considering a lift one day. Sick truck but let's see more of the garage. Thanks

My garage ceiling is about 10 feet. Here it is all the way up - there is enough room to work under with a creeper stool. I installed a jack-shaft garage door opener on that door, so there is no clearance issues with the opener or door, opened or closed.

Just got an email from Wheelers, and it looks like my SAW coils will be here on Thursday! I am going to install Thursday night after work, and have an appointment on Friday morning to get my tires mounted up. I decided on the new Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 285's. Then it is off to the shop next to my work to get an alignment.

In the meantime, I snapped a couple other shots of my garage since you guys seemed to appreciate it.

Work area behind the lift. Metal lathe, tig welding bench (old tanker desk with 1/2" plate on top), 10' tool box / work bench and air compressor.


Close up of work bench cabinet doors. I did some business with a guy who owned a company that had the contract with a local auto group that owns Toyota and Lexus dealerships. He made all their work stations to spec, and had a floor/show model that he sold to me for a steal. It is heavier duty than any off-the-shelf set up I have seen (including snap-on/matco etc..). It will last me my lifetime, and will probably be used by my grand kids some day. I figured that if anyone will think it is as cool as I do, it will be you guys....

I will post up pics on Friday after I get the truck back from the alignment. Can't wait!
