New 2013 SR5 with a few questions...

Thanks for the link. If I read correctly... I can basically use 4Hi on dry pavement if I am driving straight without taking any tight corners? I just want to do it to keep my system lubed for the 10 miles a month. Furthermore I know I should do it at a speed of under 62 MPH according to the owners manual correct? Or can I skip the 10 miles a month thing and just use it during our brutal Iowa winters?

Your can take normal rolling street turns with no worries, especially if you're only doing it for 10 miles a month.

Actually the only other mod I am doing is the factory exhaust tip. Other than that I am considering a "short" antenna. Not sure what brand to buy or where to get those if anyone has any good places let me know.

Not a gear shift handle? Mmmmkay. Anyway, I bought my shorty antennae on amazon. And Parts at Toyota of Dallas is a good place for the tip if you don't just want to get it at the stealership. (Although it is a stealership)

Thanks for the information. I have an exhaust finisher on order from the dealer currently and am also going to look at stubby antenna mod options. I actually like the gearshift handle if I did any mod I would get a silver trimmed one out of a Limited or Premium Package SR5.

Thank you for the information. The thread you sent was helpful but a bit overwhelming IMO. I just don't want to damage the drivetrain of the most expensive vehicle I have ever bought. Thanks again for the help!

No problem glad to "help" I don't know if saying it was confusing helped but it was to a newbie around here. So far I really do like the T4R. It also gets great fuel economy in town it is matching my Bonneville. Not bad for full-frame 4WD SUV with a 4.0L V6 along with the aerodynamics of a brick.

I noticed when inspecting the undercarriage of my 2013 Trail the other day that at many of the weld joints there appears to be no powder coat paint in a very small thin strip around the joint, and in other areas as well. This is throughout the frame. Here's a pic below of one of the joints on the left lower control arm. Notice also the rust on the cast molding in the upper right side of the pic, where the CV joint connects and also on another fitting near it. Rust already on a brand new 4Runner. Not a good omen. And not the Toyota quality I expected. Very poor painting and attention to detail, IMO:

My new SR5 isn't perfect underneath either. I am not too worried about it. Metal rusts simple as that even on a "new" vehicle it can.
