New 2015 LE owner, why not these things!!!

I need to vent, just picked up a new 2015 limited, black, redwood, 3rd row,etc payed a pretty penny, no power lift gate!!!, memory seats only adjust the seats and not side mirrors! , entune is ok, but could be better,, the heated seats are very weak barely heats, my 2011 outback is way better, things I do like, X reas is great, handling is superb! Transmission is very smooth for a 5 speed, build quality! I just felt I needed to let out some steam.

Just for comparison's sake I'm finding the heated seats on my TE work great, in fact warmer then my 2010 Tacoma which had factory leather. Currently -20c here and they are toasty warm actually have to turn them down from high setting within 10 mins.
 
I love the heated seats in my 2015 TEP. It feels really warm within 60 seconds of starting and gets better from there.
 
I missed a few of these things when I first replaced my JGC.

However, after driving it a few months, and gaining things like rock solid build, the power rear window, vented seats, etc. I find it a perfect fit.

Moreover, I haven't spoken to the service department yet!!
 
Then why did you buy it? And comparatively speaking they're not that expensive compared to a Lexus or something like a grand Cherokee(which by the way is overpriced garbage)

I've compromised on features and colors MANY times with used vehicles but would never buy a new vehicle if I had as many gripes as you have... these are all things you could have tested to see if they were to your liking before spending 40k-50k vehicle. :( My wife loves my 4runner but I would buy her a Highlander every day of the week instead for her needs (she's on her 3rd Pilot because that's the vehicle that best fits her needs and that's what she wanted... and yes, it even has a power liftgate :thumb:). btw... I've had a couple 2011 Outback's (great vehicles btw) and the seats heat every bit as good on my 4runner...

Yeah, my response to Bigoltater would be this too. If Toyota added everything single extra-cost feature to the 4Runner that the Lexus GX460 comes with, they would have no differentiators that would push customers toward the Lexus. It's all about marketing, and keeping the two brands separate.
 
People must keep files of pre-written responses like the cut and paste "should have taken it for a test drive" and think they are doing the forum a favor by posting them.

Nobody cares about the regurgitated admonishing, just stay off the thread if you don't like it.

Venting is a normal process of internet forums.

I agree with the other posters who said that it's a deliberate move by Toyota to differentiate their Lexus offerings.

Although I think why some people question this deliberate separation of specific features between the Toyota/Lexus brands by Toyota, their American counterparts split their feature sets between brands in different ways.

On some upper Trim Chevy and Ford offerings you see some features that only seem to be offered in Lexus products for example.

He posted it, not her, so the comments naturally have to be directed at him.
I care about regurgitated admonishing so your statement is invalid.

Why would anyone come to an enthusiast's website to vent about the perceived shortcomings of his vehicle? Why? To look for like minded people and opinions of course. Someone to agree with him and make him feel better about himself and his viewpoint. To be able to read that he is not alone in his criticisms and perceptions. To justify his lack of a thorough test drive for example.

What I see in this thread is reality. No coddling, no spin, no whitewash. The guy bought it, he should have paid attention to what he was buying. Maybe next time it will be a different buying experience. We all make decisions we lament about later sure but most don't post it on the internet expecting agreement and looking for acceptance. He posted the classic, "glass half empty" prose. Now if he would have posted the "glass half full" and touted the reliability and durability aspects, the solid feeling of quality, etc and THEN posted about the perceived lack of amenities, the responses would be quite different. Just my opinion.

To me the reality is that the 4runner is a dying breed and Toyota keeps it going to satisfy us loyal enthusiast. If a person is never going to go off road or tow anything a 4runner is probably not the best vehicle for the job. With everything going to crossovers we are lucky the body on frame 4runner even exit. Toyota is not going to spend thousand of dollars on updating more than they did in the 2014 update. This is especially the case with sticking with the old 5 speed transmission. It does not make sense to spend a lot of money on the 4runner when they only sell around 50k units a year. Once sales drop off they will just discontinue the 4runner and blame us instead of themselves for not updating it more. On vehicles like the Camry where they sell hundreds of thousands a year then can spend the money to completely redo then every couple years. Even if the power rear tailgate was offered on the Limited only there would not be enough volume to justify the cost. I do not know what percent of sales are Limited's. I do understand the ops complaint though. I also would like a power rear tailgate. I also which the SR5 and Trail had more of the limited features available. Even some basic rental cars anymore have auto headlights and auto temp controls.
