New 4 Runner owner with a few ?s

The wife and I just brought home a new 2013 4runner SR5 FWD. I've spent the last day or so going over the owners manual and that has resulted in a few questions. I guess 2013 is gen 6; but I didn't see a board for that.

I'd like to know if factory service manuals are, or will be, available for the 2013 FR?

Is there a dipstick for checking the transmission fluid level?

Can the tire pressures be read and displayed somewhere?

Is there an OBDII port for reading codes?

I'm used to doing most of the work on my vehicles as I have on our 2000 Tundra. I would like to do this for our FR as well. Any info would be appreciated - thanks and Merry Christmas.

I am hoping you mean FWD=4wd and not front wheel drive... The T4R only comes in rear wheel or part-time 4WD for SR5. 2013 is still 5th gen

Do a search for OBD11 on this forum. You will find several threads on the subject.

There is no dipstick for transmission fluid level.
 
Odbii

The ODBII port is above and just to the right of the parking brake when the brake is released. Get down low and look up.
 
I found the OBDII port - thanks. I have a code reader I bought to use on our Tundra, so I wanted to use it on the 4Runner too. For future reference - If the battery needs to be disconnected, does all the set-up info and settings have to be reprogrammed, or are the retained in non-volitle memory?

I'd like to be out there washing and waxing - but it's too cold!

Don't be silly. Do you think your driving an Avalon or Lexus? All you get with the 4 Runner is an Idiot light. I am thinking Toyota thinks we should be grateful we got that.....be safe.

Considering all base model GM's have this feature it's not too much to ask.
 
That's not a fair comparison. Do you want a vehicle with all the bells and whistles, or do you want a vehicle that's reliable? Can't have em both. American mades have a bad track record. So to entice buyers they needed to throw in all the fancy options and accessories as standard freebies. These yotas sell themselves so there's no need to include the extras.

GM is more than reliable if you buy the right model. You can go buy just about any year Silverado or C/K pick up and drive it to 200,000 miles and only have to change a fuel pump once or twice and that's about it.

I've owned plenty so I know. Also it's not a fancy feature, the sensor already knows how much air is in the tire.
