New 4Rs transported

Has anyone seen 4Runners on car-carrier big rigs on the road? Any idea how they are transported? shrink wrapped, covered? just wondering.

Most have the large surfaces covered in the same white shrink wrap they use on boats etc. Any paint damage on the smaller surfaces is addressed by the receiving dealer before it goes on the lot...

That's how it normally works for cars.. I've not seen any T4R shipments personally, so I can't tell you from first hand experience.

I passed one of the 18 wheeler car transporters the other day on I-95 and there were 2 4R on it and they had no protective covering on them at all. I dont know if they are all like that but these 2 were.

They arrive by rail to a local yard to your area then put on a car carrier and taken to the dealer. That’s how all <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><ST1Toyota'</ST1</st1:City>s are shipped.<O</O

^^^ What he said. Mine went from the POE, to Chicago by rail (~2 weeks), and then sat in Chi. a week, and then by truck to final dest. Took almost 30 days from getting off the ship to arriving at my dealer.

Just Ordered My 2011 4 Runner

I ordered my new 2011 4 Runner last Friday (2-4-11) and they told me it would be about 10 days. Boy, I hope it doesn't 30 days to reach Fort Wayne, Indiana

I was told the same thing. I had my PF sold, so I put in the sales agreement that after 10 days they'd provide me a loaner. It was a Corolla, but so what, I had something to drive.
