I swear, I wish I could let each one of you drive my T4R. The look on the faces of every one of the techs who have driven it was priceless, I didn't even have to ask if they felt what I was, mostly because I can feel it from the passenger seat too!

No one at the dealership had the stones to deny the issue exists but they were quick to tell me the truck was operating as designed; they were equally quick to tell me there was no fix for the issue. I may have mentioned it in an earlier post in this thread, but at the request of the Regional Supervisor that they sent from San Francisco, I test drove a Limited V8 and that sum ***** did the exact same thing! It didn't make me feel any better because all it seemed to do was further evidence a design flaw in the vehicle, but he pointed to the similarities as proof of "operation as designed." He still threw a $2300 warranty at me, which only made me more suspicious that they ultimately knew it was a true issue, but that's only speculation.
Could it be possible that my V8 acts so differently than wis99ski's?

I also experience this to some degree… apparently, some of us feel it more then other.
I would recommend contacting Toyota's Customer Experience Center @ 800-331-4331 and documenting this issue. It may sounds naïve, but I believe that if there will be enough calls made maybe Toyota will actually look in to it.
Since there is no fix and no other options, I think making call would be a right thing to do.

I feel the surges, i just got used to it, what bothers me that it surges like every ten seconds and if your parked and outside the car its kinda of annoying......anybody else's runners ac cycle on and off every ten seconds or so??.....
FWIW, I'll add to the list of not noticing anything like the surging described on my V-8 4x4.
At most, I can sometimes feel a slight pull when the compressor engages while sitting at a complete stop in drive. Only to be expected since the ECU bumps the rpms slightly to offset the additional load, but we're only talking a minute increase of brake pedal effort required to offset...I doubt you could tell my foot moved if you were watching for it.

IMHO. AC compressor is on all the time as long as your ac button is on. you should not feel any power surge because compressor is cycling. there is a lack of power (you lose HP) every time you see light on your ac button. Every car I had I could tell the diff if ac on or off. But when it is on (ac light on) perfomance consistant (with lack of HP though).
