Do I owe my son a new 4runner? When he graduated from high school and college he got nothing like this. I did pay for most of his college cost and tuition. Do I also owe him a 4runner? I do not think so. He drove an old worn out Thunderbird through and after college until he earned enough money to buy a better car himself. I guess I am old fashion.

Very nice. What a lucky and lovely young lady! She will have years of reliable service from it. It's a fine way to send them out into the world. I plan on doing the same for my girls. My oldest is 13, I hope the T4R is still in recognizable form when she is ready for one. For my 9-yr-old, who knows? :shrug:

BTW, I paid for all of my own college and was loaned vehicles to drive through college. My parents gave what they could and I'm very grateful for it. If giving his daughter a very nice new car makes him happy, more power to him.

We all do things and make decisions for our families based on circumstances and life conditions at the time. You lead your family the best you know how. I lead my family the best I know how. With God's help and grace, we make the right decisions the majority of the time, and pray our kids turn out alright.

You hit part of the reason. She's finishing school in Iowa, and drives some pretty desolate roads in all kinds of weather. Her 08 Pilot was starting to have random failures which could not be duplicated. No way we wanted her stranded in the middle of Kansas in a "normal weather" January. Besides, Toyota dealers need a little love too! The process was actually fairly painless, this time.
