New Battery time...

Woke up to the dreaded sound of rapid fire click this AM... (knew it was gonna happen) colder weather set in and almost didn't turn over twice yesterday.
What interstate batteries do most of you folks use? I have heard some awful things about those colored batteries optima and those duralast.. so I wont go that route.. I do have lights and 2 amps.. not that makes a difference..

stick with Interstate? or is there something better out there? I got almost 5- 6 years out of this one.. Thanks.

I ran with Optima for a few years and when it came time to change, I went to the DieHard Platinum from Sears. (Yes, Sears). This is a spiral cell technology and I have had the battery now for almost three years with ZERO issues. I have been very impressed with the battery and the warranty. These batteries have some good reviews as well. Couldn't hurt to check them out. A minor thing but kinda cool - they have a built in carry handle.....
 
I've never had an issue using Duralast batteries from Autozone. Currently I have a Duralast Gold in my 4Runner that I bought 2 years ago. Have had Duralast batteries in my previous vehicles as well without issue. Most of the batteries you buy at the chain stores are all made by the same manufacturer, Johnson Controls if I remember correctly.

I would go with a duralast platinum for autozone. It is a AGM made by Johnson controls the same company that makes optimas. I have a 34R and it goes and goes and goes lol. Probably the best non-deepcylcle battery I have owned.

A while back my altenator died about 3hours from home and it ran the truck all the way home. Couldnt be happier lol.

These are a cheaper rebadged Oddyssey. These are pretty much the best of the best. I have an Oddyssey 31m as my aux battery and really like it as well. My one complaint is the price is a bit steep (my 31m was about $400) but you get what you pay for.
 
You're positive that it isn't something like a bad connection?

If it were mine I'd charge the battery and have it load tested. It may be a safe assumption that it's the battery, but what if it isn't?

i agree, i have the interstate mtp24F bought it 2 years ago for $130 with $15 batt core charge.

i have had no problems with it in the winter of -20 deg temps and summer time at the drive in with 3-4 hours of running the radio at the drive in.

plus i have all my lights around my vehicle. always starts and has enough power run everything.

Though I believe costco might offer the same , rebadged for a lil cheaper.


In my gassers, I use interstate.
 
Interstate is just one of the many "badges" that a battery made by Johnson Controls can have. Others are not "rebadged" Interstates.

Johnson Controls makes Kirkland (Costco), DieHard (except for Platinums), Duralast, etc.

A very close friend is a regional sales guy for Interstate. His advice is to shop CCA's, warranty, and price.
 
I would pick one up at Costco. The warranty is great. FWIW, most of these regular batteries are made by Johnson Controls. It's all about the specs and warranty for the price.

On a side note, I got a battery from Costco in early 2003. It finally died this summer after I left it sitting for a month on vacation. It was cranking nice and strong last winter too. Fantastic battery. Another Costco branded battery went in. I noticed the week after that Costco now changed their battery labels from Kirkland to Interstate. The specs are exactly the same as when they were sold under the Kirkland brand so I'm assuming they got some branding contract.
 
Die hard platinum... 10 fing year warranty!!! Rebranded odyssey battery.... unbelievable battery.. spend a little extra get the die hard platinum... best of the best while only paying a little extra
 
DH Plat is the best battery for not that much more money.
Die Hard Platinum, unfortunately, does not offer a reversed terminal model in size 34.
In my case it was more expedient to get---for less than $100 more---the Odyssey PC1500, group 34R.
Way better for me than trying to extend the batt cables.
 
ive got the die hard platinum and love it. gets my vote.
my dad runs costco in his diesel (2 batteries) and they work great as well.
 
I purchased a Exide battery for 99 at home depot comes with road side assistance and a few month more warranty than the Interstate costco battery but If I had to do it over again I would do a Costco battery in a heart beat. Reason is Home depot is a pain in the butt about keeping the exide in stock making them scares but the specs one both batteries are above beyond autozone and advance for less money
 
Interstate are great batteries. I have used them for a few years now. I ran a MTP 51r in my Civic for over 4 years before i replaced it but i did not let it total die on me. Running a MT series in my wifes Alero for about 4 years now with no issues. My company recently switched to AC Delco batteries and i an running one in the Civic now and I like it. Both are great batteries for the money and last as long as a Optima. If you have a bunch or lights, winch, stereo stuff ect I would go with a deep cycle marine battery personally.
