New Drums or Turn Older?

Hi all

Simple question. My circumstances make turning drums difficult but only local source autozone for $47 a drum new. Not sure of the best approach

Also this is due to brakes still dragging after shoe replace. After being perfect they auto adjusted out too tight to the point of almost locking on the freeway! While I was able to get drum off with some difficulty I did not have to back off adjustment but drum was very hot to touch on one side. What would cause this?

Resurface the drums.

Could be the brakes binding, readjust shoes.

At any point did you mixed the left side brake shoe adjuster with the right side adjuster?

I would say, buy new drums. I turned my drums and spend $20 each or so and they are not perfect.

Made it home…

I did each side at a time so zero chance of mix up.

What are the chanced the wheel cylinders are sticking? I've never heard of this but since I'm taking it apart again might as well cover all bases.

I did NOT replace hardware previously and have a new set of springs etc and will do that asap.

Is there anything else I am missing? I really can't imagine how the adjuster went ahead and adjusted too tight but that is the ultimate issue….

If the drums need to be turned there will usually be a noticeable vibration.

About the over adjusting hand brake...
I had a similar issue and found the wheel cylinder to be the culprit my understanding is that when the brakes are apart and the cylinder is free to expand it blows the internal seals and then for some reason applies continuous pressure to the system causing the hand brake to be always on.
I replaced mine and the issue went away, but in the future always put a zip tie over the cylinder pistons to prevent them from expanding while working on the drums.
