Plus they make steel gas tank skids!
Wow amazed how active this thread is and awesome information. I think first time here I will remain stock. If enjoy it and want to continue will upgrade. Have a few hobbies right now and this is a new one for me.
If anyone still has stock skids that are in DECENT condition, let me know. I need my 4th set of stock skids
And yes! I like when the BS threads finally come alive. It's GREAT to have a local brothers in arms, and it's even better to build friendships based on a common ground; the awesomeness of Toyota trucks.
Stay for the chat gentlemen!
Hi guys, thought I would say hi. I'm a fellow New Englander, and a recent buyer of a 03 T4R (Sport/4WD/4.7/XREAS).
Have all my lift stuff on order (FJ Coils, 5100's). Can't wait to get this thing in the woods for some fun! With the ridiculous amount of nose dive/rake I wouldn't want to chance taking it through too much as it is....
Do any of you wheel in NH or ME? I love in NH and travel throughout NH & ME for work. From reading this thread it looks like you do most of your wheeling in MA or CT.
Anyway, cheers everybody!
Hey there Nuge,
I know Billy(Qjake) has wheeled in NH. Henniker I believe. CT has been getting a lot of action from us as the group that goes is relatively closer to the spots. I wouldn't mind heading up to NH to get a change in scenery. I'm driving through there somewhat often for work but just haven't had the opportunity to wheel around.
Cool! Yeah, I am hoping to have my lift in before my first bird hunting trip up in Maine. That is always a fun trip, good for some fun in the truck too!
NH is not nearly as open to wheeling as it used to be. When I was a teenager we used to be able to turn off anywhere and bury the trucks to our hearts content. Now I see lots of gates & signs......really stinks. I will be watching closely for open roads and trails from now on though!!
Once my lift is in I might just join you guys down there for a trip (after hunting season......lol).
Good to meet you!
My name is Jim BTW
Didn't you just say your stock skids worked out fine? Now you need a 4th set LOL
:guitar3:
Welcome Jim! What color did ya get?
I go to NH and PA all the time. CT/RI is fun too!
Hello!
I got a grey (sorry, don't know the fancy name for it) with the plastic cladding (don't mind the cladding too much, it's going to brush against trees and stuff...lol). It's a 2003/Sport/4.7/4WD/XREAS 123k on it.
Great running and driving vehicle.
I've already done a bunch to it. Did a complete front brake job (rotors/calipers/pads), bought a full set of 07 17" FJ rims (already mounted and on the truck), full set of 08 TT FJ coils (arrives on Friday), full set of 5100's (arrives on Monday).
Hope to get at least a 2/1 lift/level out of this setup and an improved ride (this XREAS is getting soft @ 123k).
Where in NH do you go to? I'm in Seabrook (seacoast area by Hampton NH & Salisbury MA).
And it looks to me like you have "Galactic Grey"
Cool, thanks for clearing that up!
Let me know when you are wandering through NH/ME next. Lets grab lunch/a beer.....whatever. Would like to find out what nutty things you have done with your T4R.....lol
You'd need a damn weekend to hear all the "nutty things" I've done to my truck haha!
Beer sounds good, but it can't be at a bar.... Lol
I might be up next weekend, or I'll come up if you need a hand with your lift! You aren't that far away!
Also, I sell 1/2" body lifts to help you clear bigger tires without rubbing. Affordable prices too. Uses stock bolts and no steering modification needed!
