New Fad?? Neon Wheels

I have been seeing lots of cars such as Acura's, VW's, Honda's, mostly rice burners with neon colored wheels. Most of the cars are white. I have seen green, pink, orange, and blue wheels. Is anyone else seeing this where they live??

I am going through [MENTION=65530]Cali4Runnea[/MENTION]'s build and am reading about different colored plasti dip, [MENTION=77471]kevinpt[/MENTION] posted a website to get different colors, dipyourcar and I couldn't believe it, plasti dip in every color of the rainbow!!

Is this the new thing…I'm not saying the wheels I have seen are plasti dipped but its either that or spray paint, right?

Not yet, every time I see one we are both driving. I will follow the next one I see going into a parking lot to get a picture.

I can understand that but (giggle) these aren't race cars. These are more like high school kids making the outside of their car look cool while it smokes like crazy as they take off from a light, for what I would assume is a lack of oil?

Hah.. that's nothing new. What I was getting at, as with most after market mods, they do it to imitate real race cars. Some do it for show I'm sure.

I've never been fond of cleaning painted or coated wheels personally.

This has been around for years already. Same thing with the stupid wide wheels and super narrow tires stretched on them. Thankfully the "stanced" fad isn't common here with as bad as the roads are.

I've got all sorts of stuff around here - ricers with neon wheels, huge spoilers, pickups with small super wide tires, sedans with really tall tires wheels with skinny tires, etc. Different strokes...

I see some around my area but they all look awful. They're mostly on poorly riced out cars.

Only way they can get away with that look is if they paint the HVAC vents in the dash and the door handles neon as well.

So, what you're saying is, there's a whole class of vehicle built around a certain purpose, and there's a huge bunch of people who think that's cool and want to make their vehicles look like that even though they have no intention of actually using their vehicle for that purpose and would have no idea how to go about doing it if they did?

My comment was saying why would you spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on making your car "look" cool but not take care of it to make it last. Unless making it smoke is part of looking cool??
