New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

I took a 2 mpg hit on a recent Texas road trip (filled 3 tanks) when I moved up from
Stock SR5 wheels 17x7" +15mm (29#) w/ 265/70/17 P rate Terra Grappler (45#)= 74#
upgraded/downgraded to
Level 8 MK6 17x8" -10mm (28#) w/ 275/70/17 C rate Wildpeak (57.1#)= 85.1#
My 85.1# rotational mass was killing me, I couldn't deal with the sluggish acceleration even though I did enjoy how the 275 absorbed the bumps on the road. I traded in the 275s for 285/70 P rated (50.5#) for the weight savings and figured I'll try this out for awhile. I'm working with Discount Tire to see if they can swap me out to lighter wheels around the ~20# range; 3# lighter than my previous stock setup with a .5" difference in tire height gain.
Sitting now:
Level 8 MK6 17x8" -10mm (28#) w/ 285/70/17 C rate Wildpeak (50.5#)= 78.5#
potential weight reduction:
Konig Countersteer Type X 17x8" -10mm weigh 20.5# these would match well with my 285 P's for a total weight of 71 pounds.
I only noticed slight rubbing on the front fender liner reversing on the curb dip leaving my driveway. I have my caster set exactly at 4 degrees.

I am wanting to put these wheels and tires on a stock SR5. Do you think it would have fit without the spacers?

I read a post on this site about the 58lb C rated Wildpeaks (compared to 51 lb KO2) might be because of thicker rubber, maybe 18mm Falken vs 15 KO2? But why then would the E rated Falken only be 1 lb heavier than the C load Falken? Makes no sense if the tread depth is the same for both Falkens.

You should be fine. Check out this guide. I found it quite helpful. I just cannot decide between 255/75/17 or 275/70/17... Basically Falken A/T3W or Coopers AT3 4S. Coopers are so much lighter, but less aggressive.

Yeah, there is indeed no relationship between initial tread depth and weight.
Consider the following 255 75 17 options, all of which are LT-C that start at 18 or 19:
Firestone MT2 is only 47lb
Cooper STT Pro is 50lb
Goodyear MTR is a surprising 52lb
Falken MT is 53
Toyo MT is 57
and Grabber X3 is............64!
If I wanted that size, the Firestone MT2 would be extremely interesting. It has a 3-ply sidewall like most MTs yet weighs a paltry 47 lb like my 265 70 17 P-metric Wildpeaks and being a very recent design it should be quite decent on road, certainly better than a 55lb or so E-load AT tire.

Installed fn fix pro wheels with 265/70/17 and I’m getting rubbing on the front mudflap at full lock out. I’m surprised since I’m using the same tire size as stock. I understand the wheels are a different offset but figure I would still be fine.
Does everyone usually do the heat gun trick or is there a third part mudflap that looks good?

Most seem to trim or just remove mudflap.
I think I've settled on these in 275/70/17 since I have stock trd pro wheels. I know many do 285, but since those are out of spec, I'd prefer just not to deal with more little things just for a bit more tire.
Now just gotta find a really good deal.

I tried the heat gun method. Didn't work for me and I basically ruined the mudflap. I just took both off. It's possible that the heat gun method would work if you had more room than I did. I am ok with the result with them off. Gets some dirt on the doors during rainy weather but I can live with that.
No spacer. It just rubs when I fully turn to the right. Think I’m going to try and sand down the mudflap and see if that does it.
Ended up ordering one 285/70/17 to put on my extra wheel I have for my hitch mount. While it was getting mounted I asked the shop to toss it on the front to see if it would fit.
It did!
Ordered 4 more and had them mounted today. I did like the look of the Duratracs, but I am really looking forward to these tires, they look good.

I put the same size General Grabber AT/Xs on a 2019 Runner Limited (TRD 17-In Alloy Wheels - Matte Gray), with no rubbing. Wonder if each tire manufacturer's specs are identical. Mine come close at full lock out, but don't touch the mudflaps.

I'm lost. Why did you get a spare you weren't sure would fit in the situation where you needed a spare?
If it didn't fit I'd send it back. A lot easier to just test one. Worked out and was done within a week.
