For the last two weeks, I have been running them at 38 and 40. Unfortunately, after 4 balancing attempts at two different stores and replacing two of the new tires, the wheel shake at 60+ mph is not going away. I am going to order Yokohama Geo Lander GO15. There specs say that they have narrower tread width so may be that will help. Really wanted to like these tires but oh well.

I don't have these tires but have had the steering wheel shake on my 13 FJ and most recently the 16 4Runner when I swapped to KO2s. The only thing that fixed it both times was a road force balance. Might be worth a try if you havent yet before getting new tires!

New Falkens and TRD Wheels
After much research and consideration I went with a set of AT3Ws in the stock size. Upgraded to the TRD wheels at the same time. I'm running at 36 psi which seems just right, but I'll monitor the wear on the tread for a while. PSA: as stated everywhere, each runner is different. On my TRD ORP, even with stock size AT3Ws, I get a "slight" rub at full lock with the TRD wheels. Will be a simple fix pushing the fender liner forward.

Just ordered falken at3w 285/70/17 at discount tires. Quoted $540 mounted. They come next week [emoji4][emoji849] they are also going on TRD Pro wheels. Thanks guys for all this info. They look way better in person.

That’s a heck of a deal! Does anybody know how their eBay store handles returns if there are flaws?

With regard to the tire "insurance" DT sells, I've bought a good number of tires with them and am willing to take the chance and replace a tire out of my pocket if necessary. Never yet been in a situation where I wish I had bought the replacement certificate.

Been eyeing these, but been waiting until wheels I want were available. With coupon, went ahead pulled trigger.
After two weeks of use and 4 balancing attempts in stock size, I gave up on the Falken AT3Ws and went with Yokohama Geolander AT GO15. These are nowhere near as wide nor aggressive looking but they are the smoothest riding tire I have every used. The Goelanders are 41lbs vs 47 for Falkens. My MPG was down about 1-1.5 with the Falkens but is back to what it was with Geolanders.
If I was living in CO, UT, or somewhere near lots of off-road tracks, I would have kept the Falkens but with a twice a year off-road use, I just cannot live with the vibrations, MPG hit, and hit on power.
I wonder how they can make such a heavy wide tire and sell it for $380? Having said all of the above, they do look fantastic.
And this is my fear.....
I dealt with DT when I lived in Florida and they were awesome to deal with. Now that I’m in PA and don’t have one near me, I’m wondering what happens if I get vibrations after buying online.
Did you try the road force balance before giving up on them?

In case it hasn't been posted elsewhere - depending on regional availability, Toyota runs a tire sale every October. I got out the door with my new set of Falkens for $395 and some change for everything (that did include a credit of $200 for my Dunlop take-offs). Bonus is "most" Toyota dealers are going to do a better job of balancing new tires on a Toyota wheel, etc.
I'm in the Rocky Mountain Region, so it's worth checking into.

As far as I know, DT did perform Roadforce. I agree 100%, DT customer service was great. First they ordered 2 replacement Falkens to see if that will resolve the shaking past 62mph(2 of the originals were taking too much weight). Did not help! I have 23K miles on my SR5 with stock wheels.
Initially, I was going to order from Tirebuyer but then thought what if I have issues? Much easier to deal with local shops than someone online even if it costs extra. Glad I went the local route.
