We just got back, we drove yet more remarkable trails on our 265 SL:
Kamikaze at 30 psi front and 36 rear (LOL, I forgot I had put 36 at home)
Bobby Hole/Devil's Lane (up and down) at 30/32 psi
Elephant Hill down and up (the backside) at 30/32 psi.
We also drove Boxcar (but down the biggest hill) and Canyonlands Overlook.
Kamikaze, Bobby's Hole, and the backside of Elephant Hill are about as hard as any climbs I plan to do. We had a tiny bit of wheelspin at the steepest spot of EH, even though it has asphalt on it, but so did a Rubicon with the front locker on and Goodyear MT-Rs. I had to revise my line at the very top of the upper section of Kamikaze and take the tallest side of the step instead of the sandy/lower side but that is a known tough spot, I was loaded, and had 36 psi in the rear.
In Utah, we have also driven Fins and Things, Tower Arch, almost all of the Maze district, and a number of other trails with no issues, all at street pressures.
The only place where I have some concerns with strength is the Sonoran desert, especially in SW Arizona. Even so, it remains by far the best choice for me: plenty of offroad but also plenty of highway.

hmmmm...was going to go with 285's, but this talk with 265's and the possible BMC and cost is making me think it over.

Yeah, that's interesting, I stayed at near street pressures last weekend there (see above). I guess I would not be as scared to air them down around Moab if I need though, thanks to [MENTION=73851]007Tacoma[/MENTION] .
But Moab's rocks are "nice". They don't have edges quite as sharp as our "nasty" AZ rocks
Either way, it was again a huge bonus for me not to bother with airing down and up. Our days were long enough anyway.

MAST4R, you’ve likely pushed these SL Falkens harder than anyone I’ve come across. Your take on proper pressures seem like the authority at this point. Thanks for sharing all of that and it’s damn good to hear.
I was browsing TireBuyer.com and noticed, as others have, that the Load Range C in 285/70 are now readily available. If I had to do it again, I’m not sure I’d sacrifice the massive additional weight when the SLs are reportedly doing so well.

I’m at 2.5/1.5 of lift and I have no need for upper control arms or the BMC. Every rig is different and maybe I’m just lucky but I have full articulation with no issues and she aligns well. The 265s do look good and are substantially bigger than the factory 265s that come on the rig and look like a spare donut. Buy once, cry once is what I’ve learned. Just don’t settle now only to regret it later.

We also ran Big Bend Ranch State Park (Guale #2 Campsite) last year with no problems as well. Gonna try to get back out there this year.

I can also confirm now that once down under 10/32 tire wear turned from fast to very slow without any change in the frequency, mileage, or types of trails I am running.
My two older tires now have 20,000 miles and are at 8/32. My two newer tires now have 5,000 miles and are down to 10+/32nds.
Basically, over the first 3/32nds I am losing 1/32 per 2,000 miles (which sounds to me like MT wear territory).
Over the next 2/32nds, however, I am losing 1/32 per 6-7,000 miles (which is like a long-lasting street tire).
So, my older tires are now averaging 1/32nd per 4,000 miles which is exactly where I was with my KO2s on my Outback.

I got to see Kevin’s nice looking rig today with the p285, and truly pictures don’t do justice on how awesome these tires look.
I am getting my P285s this week from DT in exchange for LT275 KO2 E that won’t balance with shakes between 50-60mph ... hopefully all goes well!

Am I correct in reading you took the at3w in a 265/70-17 SL size into Big Bend Ranch state park with no problems?

that is correct. Fully loaded (RTT, Fridge, Cargo Carrier, camp gear, food, and medications) we ran 18PSI out to Guale 2 Campsite. It was gorgeous.

With my budget, finding a wheel/tire replacement was tough. I wanted to be different (since I already have a rare Shoreline Blue TE) but ended up settling on the matte graphite TRD Pro wheels and Falken Wildpeaks in 265/70/R17. After reading all the reviews, I look forward to switching to these from the Bridgestone Dueler H/T's.

I got my truck realigned yesterday and it seemed to improve the road noise I’ve been experiencing with the P285s. I’ll post the stats up. Toe was in a little so I’m sure the tires weren’t riding perfectly square.

25k or so in and it was time for a rebalance. That's normal. What's not normal is that it took 4 tries to get rid of the shimmy when they were new, so I was worried.
Yep, took 3 tries this time, 2 of which were road force. While these tires are wearing great, they are also wearing out my patience.
Actually screwed up my work travel plans last week since I had to go back again the next day. I just couldn't drive 10+ hours like that..after try #1 they were worse than my 37" swamper clad Jeep with no weights at all, just a handful of beads. But I guess they can't really be out of round because the shop figures it out eventually and it ends up OK. It's just frustrating.

What rims are the tries mounted on?
My tires were bought new and mounted on the stock TRD/ORP rims and have 16k miles without a rebalance.
