New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

For those still kicking these around, don’t hesitate to buy these for a second.

I was one of the early buyers of these tires in stock size. I was offered 285 BFG KO2 take-offs from a friend’s Rubicon that I couldn’t pass up since I was lifting my rig.

I miss these Falkens every single day. I will definitely return to these once the BFGs go to crap...which will likely be sooner than later based on what I’ve been reading.

I have them in stock size as well (SL) and I am very happy with them. I have only had mine a few months though.

Just had mine mounted this morning (265/70/17s) and only have 75ish miles of purely highway driving, but wow. They look great (aggressive yet not MT aggressive), are quiet (I think other than between 30-40mph, quieter than the AT20s), and definitely have better road manners.

Looking forward to some dirt time with them in about a month, and hopefully some solid snow time this winter!

I had a set of BFG's that lasted 70k and still had tread left. They last quite a long time. If you want the Falkens just get them when there is a deal.

I'm still at the tire shop set 32psi, but was planning on bumping up to at least 35 and testing from there... From many people somewhere in the 35-37 range seems to be ideal

Finally had the time to get the tires installed. Got the tires on eBay for $486 shipped when they had the 15% off coupon. Size is 285-70-17 SL. Surprised on how quite the tires on road

Did you have to make any modifications to make the 285's fit?

35 on mine and go up from there based on load including towing my off road trailer

I have been running 285/70/17's now for about 15K miles and they are fantastic. I do mainly city driving with weekend dirt roads and trails...no rock crawling. They have been excellent in the rain, worn well and are not really noisy. I have noticed them get a little more noisy, but they were nearly silent when I first got them. My suspension setup is Holstein 6120 fronts with 5160 rears at 2.75" lift up front on KDSS....they do rub at full lock when compressed coming out of a driveway or ramp.

I am looking at these tires and it seems like most here are getting the SL version instead of LT. Is this due to looks? It does not seem like the SL would be a good choice for off road, or am I wrong?

Okay, now I understand load range 115 of the stock size in SL. It is between a C and D. Now it makes since.

Are the E load wildpeaks 10 ply? I'm in CO and the trails are often pretty rocky so 10 ply would suit my needs better than a C load tire.

So what are you guys running your 285's at? I recently put 3" Boss on with SPC UCA's and I am rubbing my UCA on the front driver side on a hard right turn. Installer said to try adding more air. Do I need to get realigned? It rides good right now.

Toytec 2" lift kit for TRD and Wheelers t13 1.5" Coil rear.

So Falken just released the at3w in a 6 Ply C load 275/70-17 but in talking with customer service at tirebuyer.com (which is the only place that seems to list them as even existing) they told me that the tire comes in at 57lbs. Are any of you running the 285 10 ply’s which must be even heavier in that case and if so do you feel the difference spinning all that weight at the pump in particular?

I want to go with the 275 to get as big a tire as possible without doing a lift on my 18 TRD ORP.

Pulled the trigger on the falkens . I had duratracs on my Fj and the first gen of the falken wildpeaks. Going with the wildpeaks AT3 in stiock size since I enjoy my mpg. Getting installed this week anything has to be better then the stock tires they put on a off road vehicle.

Could you post a front picture? I have the same wheels and want to go 285’s (I currently have 275 KO2’s).
