If this has been posted, then flame me to your hearts content...

I saw this over at Expedition Portal...it looks legit, but what do i know...

if this is what they are working towards, i kinda like it. It looks like a Trail or Pro...obviously-hood scoop and all

I like this better than all the iterations of the Gen5.. Not that I hate mine, but I like this much much better. It feels....right.

I think we are about due for someone to post pics of a Fortuner again

What will really drive T4R crazy is if we compared specs - the Fortuner has the 6 speed manual or 6AT with paddle shifters, 3.0L turbo diesel. A lot to love.

One thing that we do know for sure: there is an OEM toyota ECU built for a 6MT and a bolt up 6 MT for the dual VVTI 4.0L!! Not sure what it'll cost to source one, but assuming for a second that the 6MT is the same model as the Taco - they'll be available salvage for reasonable prices, and the ECU should be sourceable making a 6MT conversion very do-able! Probably close to a bolt in swap.

people here buy electronic doodads so that their truck feels just a little bit faster, you think they are going to give up 100hp

Oh man, the 6MT from the Fortuner is way better than our Taco 6 MT. It has a 4.7:1 1st gear and a much wider overall transmission gear spread from 4.7:1 all the way to 0.64. Whereas the Taco 6 speed is 4:1 through 0.71:1.

The AT is the same.

The things Toyota does baffles the mind. Why the heck would they use a different close ratio 6MT and then need different differential gearing rather than use the other 6MT they already have and keep the rest of the drivetrain identical and much easier to manage parts and assembly supply? Makes no sense to me.
